1. Regularly conduct tree planting activities


2. Frequently conduct drills and exercises on evacuation
procedures
3. Promote environment-friendly programs
4. Advocate the recycle/reuse of everyday materials to help
conserve resources, lead to less energy, less elements used in
manufacturing them, while recycling paper will lead to less trees
being cut down
5. Provide a flood warning system in the municipality and
promote public awareness and disseminate information on
disaster risk reduction and management programs

1. Conduct research on the frequency of occurrence of floods


in the locality, especially those in low lying- area and how high it
rises
2. The municipality have an assigned Disaster Risk Reduction
Management Council (DRRMC) members who will supervise the
evacuation during calamities occurrence.
4. The municipality provide communication systems or phone
numbers to call during emergencies situation
5.The municipality provide a designation of venues to be used
as evacuation centers like schools, gyms or chapels
6. Presence of radio or a portable, battery powered radio (or
television) for updated information.
7. The municipality have readily deployment of patrol cars,
ambulance and other utility vehicles to be used during calamity
occurrence.
8. The municipality have an available equipment for First Aid like
air splints, oxygen and stretcher to aid an individual and a
survival kit consisting of a battery-powered radio, flashlight, first
aid kit, potable water, candies, ready to eat food, whistle, and
dust mask to be used during calamities occurrence.

1. Advise residents to watch out for rapidly rising water and


coordinate the proper officials on possible immediate evacuation
measures especially in a low-lying areas
2. Keep the evacuees calm and update them with the status of
the situation and safety reminders on what to do and where to
go in case of evacuation
3. Advise residents to avoid areas prone to flash flooding and be
cautious of water-covered roads, bridges, creeks and stream
banks and recently flooded areas
4. Advise residents to eat only well-cooked food and drink only
clean or preferably boiled water and throw away all food that has
come into contact with flood water
5. Attend to victims immediately. For minor cuts and wounds
apply first aid. Seek necessary medical assistance at disaster
station or hospital
6. Instruct residents when to get out calmly and in an orderly
manner. Not to rush or push one another.
