What is actor training?

-Controlling the body

-Training the voice

-Sharpen our skills (LOOSEN THE BODY)

-Transforming the body

-Work with the body in order for us to be more comfortable with it

-I SAY its a class about physical condition and resistance

-Concentrate

-Built confidence

-Build our limits

-Control our emotions

-Face challenges (Not only setting them but accomplish them too as well)

-We need POSITIVE energy

-Separate the character form ourself

We train to…

-Have flexibility? (I didn’t quite understand what kind of flexibility do we need to work on)

-To enter the stage

-To set our minds

-Focus our group and personal energy

-To have empathy

• EMOTION only happens NOW (in the present)

• Its preferable to be in the present rather tan control emotions. (NOTE TOSELF: allow the
emotion and NOT get to the emotion)

• MIND = ATTENTION (we have to place our attention)

FIRST TASK: Build a theory of what is self, mind and body.

Im going to divide my theory in three parts which are the previously mentioned; self, mind and
body and then I will give a conclusion of how I think they relate to each other.

SELF

I did a research about what do people think that self is and I found this three main theories
about self, three of them very correct (in my point of view)

The first theory was originally created by Freud and it says that self is divided by three main
personalities which are; the id (identification), the ego and the superego. Three of them work
together in order for the self to form with years. Id gets influenced by our needs as humans, the
ego gets influenced by our thought about what we want to achieve and how we WANT to be, in
another hand, the superego works -or gets influenced by- with everything that surrounds us
and with the help of our rational thoughts, helps to built the ego and the id organizing priorities.

Second theory, was created by George Herbert Mead and it divided the self in the I and the
ME. The I is supposed to be the part of ourselves that tells us how we feel about ourselves
(what we are, what we do, what we like, etc). But the ME is the more objective part of us that
really sees and tells us how we view ourselves. This theory is actually not about loving or liking

ourselves, on the contrary is to help us understand US and to have empathy with other human
beings.

And finally, the third theory was created by Charles Horton Cooley and it basically establishes
that self is created by our environment, what surrounds us and our reactions about everything
that generates an emotion, stimulate or in fact, a reaction in us.

MIND

I just read an article about everything that the mind IS NOT. And it pretty much said that we
need to separate the mind from the brain, because the brain is something we can touch, fix,
operate on, see and feel, on the other hand, we CANNOT see, fix, operate or feel the mind.

Most accurate, or more liked by me definition that I found about mind is the following…

“The mind is basically a communication and control system between the the spiritual being that
is the person himself and his environment. It is composed of mental image pictures which are
recordings of past experiences.”

BODY

According to the Cambridge dictionary, the body is the whole physical structure that forms a
person or animal as well as the main part of a person's or animal's body, with the head, or
without the head, arms, and legs.

THEORY

My theory about how the self, mind and body connect is that we create and form ourselves
from the environment around us. Since we’re born, the only thing we do is imitate
EVERYTHING; the way we speak, the way we move and the way we express our feelings and
emotions with other people. And going from there, the mind works on the building of the self
and it tells the body to do its job with all the set of information, emotions, words, and
expressions we see and imitate.
