TRAINING STRATEGY FOR ASHA FACILITATORS AND ANM’S FOR ROLLING

OUT POPULATION BASED SCREENING FOR NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASE

Asha training would be undertaken by team of four trainers

1) Expert in Social mobilization background

2) IT trainer for tablet training

3) Clinical training by Physician

4) Support Staff

Training Methodology:
The training would be imparted through classroom teaching using participatory methods including
case studies and field practice. The training would also include practicum sessions for screening
of known cases with Diabetes and Hypertension, oral visual examination and self-breast
examination
In trainings, active participation and open discussions will be particularly focused on. Case studies
and examples will be used for understanding different situations and possible interventions to be
done for screening of NCDs.
Training Material
The training module on NCDs for ASHAs would be made available to ASHA and ASHA
Facilitator during the training. The training modules and trainer’s notes would be translated in
local regional languages.
Technical Training
Using a cascade approach, Birlamedisoft will provide, skills-based training to healthcare workers. The
training will focus on equipping health care workers to navigate the Android app. and custom-built
application and carry out priority supervision activities. Specific application training will be given separately.

Training Plan will give emphasis of following criteria

Birlamedisoft’s physician will give complete training to health workers which will be based on

 Principles and value of prevention,

 Early detection and management,
  Signs, symptoms and basic pathology of hypertension and diabetes.
 Complication associated with hypertension and diabetes.
 Risk assessment tools in an efficient way
 History taking
 Key messages in raising awareness
 Behaviour change modification.
