MINUTES THE 2ND GENERAL PARENTS-TEACHERS ASSOCIATION (GPTA)

ASSEMBLY AND 1ST QUARTER CARD DAY OF MUERTEGUI NATIONAL HIGH


SCHOOL, DAJA DIOT, SAN ISIDRO, LEYTE, HELD ON AUGUST 25, 2017 AT THE
FUNCTUION HALL, 1ST FLOOR OF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING.
I. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting started at 8:00 in the morning and it was formally opened with a
program conducted by the Supreme Student Government Officers and a short welcome
message of Hon. Elizalde P. Tabon, GPTA President.
II. ATTENDANCE
The attendance of the meeting was done by the Supreme Student Government
Officers. The attendance of the parents was attached at the back of the minutes.

IV. Business Proper
Hon. Elizalde P. Tabon, started the meeting by giving a short welcome message
and it was followed by the financial update of Mrs. Charlene Blanco, GPTA Treasurer.
She gave us updates based on the financial status of the School Projects and expenses.
She also discussed the quarterly project of the students.
The financial report was followed by the school updates by Mrs. Edwina S. Bioco,
School Head. She also further discussed the updates of the school landmarks and the
school PE attire of the students. She also discussed about the incoming division-level
competitions. According to her, the school and the learners will need the full support of
the parents, financially and physical, for the YES-O Competition, Regional School Press
Conference, Techno-Olympics, and Math Competition.
After the discussion of the School Head about the status of the school Mr. Jerwen
B. Abayon discussed to the parents on how teachers compute the grades of the learners.
He explained how Performance Tasks and Written Works vary in terms of percentage in
different learning area and how Quarterly Summative Test can affects the quarterly grade
of a learner.
V. OTHER MATTERS
Every teacher discussed the students’ performance in their classes. The
department heads also informed the parents about the proceeds of every school event
project. According to them, the amount of money collected will be used in purchasing new
steps of LCD projector.

I. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting started at 8:00 in the morning and it was formally opened with a

Hon. Elizalde P. Tabon, started the meeting by giving a short welcome message
and it was followed by the financial update of Mrs. Charlene Blanco, GPTA Treasurer.
She gave us updates based on the financial status of the School Projects and expenses.
She also discussed the quarterly project of the students.
The financial report was followed by the introduction of the new teachers and
faculty of the school. Every teacher introduced themselves in front of the parents.
Mrs. Edwina Bioco, School Head discussed the School Rules and Regulation for
the sake of the new students (Grade 7 and Transferee) of the school. She also furthet
discussed the updates of the Senior High School Class.
Ma’am Bioco later opened the discussion about the memorandum from the
Division.
After the discussion about the memorandum, Miss Cristina S. Mercader explained
on how the parents will fill out the checklist which was distributed to the parents before
the meeting started. The content and the questions included in the Monitoring and
Evaluation Checklist/Assessment Tool was carefully explained by her as well. After the
parents finished filling out the checklist, it was collected and given to Miss Cristina
Mercader.

V. OTHER MATTERS
Every teacher discussed their expectation of the students. They also inform the
parents about the different requirements that the learners need to comply.

Mrs. Edwina S. Bioco, the school head, presented the agenda of the special
meeting.
Mr. Jerwen B. Abayon was requested to discuss about accountability assessment
and the importance of having an accountability assessment team in the school. The
function and the roles of every member of the said team was also discussed.
It was suggested by the GHRPTA President, Mr. Elizalde P. Tabon, that they
(parents) will act as members of the different components of the team since it is the faculty
who has greater knowledge in the implementation and the development of the said
organization. It was unanimously agreed by the body and so the creation of the
Accountability Assessment Team followed.
Below is the list of then officers/chairpersons in the crafted team as well as its
components.

Mrs. Edwina Bioco told the parents that the school will just send communication to invite
them for the crafting of the implementation guidelines of the Accountability Assessment
Team.

Mr. Ramon O. Quiling, Vice-Chairperson started the meeting by giving a short welcome message
and he discussed the school’s need to purchase important equipment for the insurance of the learners
safety inside the school. He also touched on the importance of winning the parents confidence knowing
that the school manifests a strong implementation on projects concerning the learner’s safeties.

After that Mr. Adonis Candare, proposed that the earthquake drill should be done as soon as
possible due to the alarming earthquakes occurring in other countries and in some parts of the Philippines.
He suggested that it should be done on August 27, 2017(Monday) and everybody agreed.

After his discussion Mrs. Loida Ebales, Clinic/Health Coordinator also discussed the need to
purchase some of the most important medicine and apparatus for the school clinic to be functional and
ready for emergency situations. She also mentioned the need to purchase a fire extinguisher for the kitchen
to insure the safety of the cookery students in case emergency will arise.

V. OTHER MATTERS

The committee discussed the danger of leaving the students in their classroom, allowing the
students to play under the rain and on how they could ask for assistance from the external stakeholders of
the school regarding the safety of the learners.

Miss Cristina Mercader, CPP Vice-Person started the meeting by giving a short welcome message.
She discussed the recent cases of bullying in social media, bullying inside the classroom and its long term
effect to the victim, especially on the victim’s attitude towards learning when he/she is going through this
crisis. Miss Cristina Mercader also shared her personal experience when she personally witnessed bullying
in her class and how she dealt with it. She further stressed on the importance of making the learners feel
that they are all treated fairly inside the classroom and are equally valued by their teachers.

After the discussion, Mrs. Daniela Larino, Teacher Representative, also shared her personal
experience with bullying in her own class and she strongly perceived the negative effect it caused to the
victim. She encouraged the committee that the policy for bullying should be strictly implemented so that
these alarming cases should gradually be put to an end. She also discussed on the process of counseling
for the victims to be done by the teacher in case necessity arises. She also said that the bullies should
undergo counselling for they need it as well.
V. OTHER MATTERS

Mr. Elizalde Tabon, GPTA Reprentative encouraged the committee to communicate to the parents
and never hesitate to ask for help if the school need it. He gave an assurance that they will gladly help in
maintaining the good relationship between learners inside and outside the campus. Mr. Luigi Almacen,
Community Representative, also expressed his willingness to support the advocacy of the school regarding
this matter especially that he also experienced bullying in his childhood.

Miss Cristina Mercader started the meeting by giving a short welcome message and she started to
discuss the important contribution of a beautiful home to our personal wellbeing. She wanted to implement
beautification of school campus to maintain its beauty and to make it more appealing to learners. Flower
garden, pharmacological garden, classroom structuring, solid waste segregation and paint harmony within
the school campus was included in her suggestions. She strongly believe that comfort and sense of safety
is very important for the learners learning process. The committee approved her suggestions and moved
on to the next agenda.

After that Mr. Jerwen Abayon, Math, Science and MAPEH Dept. Head, mentioned the need to
purchase more LCD Projector so that all the teacher could use projector during his/her classes. He
proposed that the school should buy at least five units which was agreed by the committee. He also
suggested initiatives on how to collect enough budget for this project.
After that Mrs. Edwina Bioco, School Head introduced the school landmark project which was
common in other schools. She gave an insight on how the project would be like after it would be
implemented. She also ask for suggestions on how to make it more beautiful and attractive compared to
the usual landmarks.

After that Mr. Elizalde Tabon, Parent Representative expressed his willingness to support all the
school project to ensure the quality of learning their children will be acquiring. He assured the School Head
and the rest of the committee that as a parent, he would graciously give his full support to any helpful
programs that the school would implement.

V. OTHER MATTERS

The committee agreed that they will have a meeting next month. They also mentioned how thankful
they are that the meeting was done earlier this year. Everyone expressed their positive expectations about
the projects and its positive result to the learners, the school and the community.

really grateful for the support of the teachers and the parents as well. She also stressed on the need for
improvement in terms of the consolidated MPS result of the school and she also challenged the Department
Heads by expecting a higher MPS result this time.
After the discussion of the School Head about the status of the school Mr. Jerwen B. Abayon
discussed on the SDL and MPS results of the first periodical examination. The result proves that the
learners yield a higher MPS compared last year and the number of learners who belong to the beginning
mastery level is lesser.

V. OTHER MATTERS

The department heads also informed the parents about the proceeds of every school event project.
According to them, the amount of money collected will be used in purchasing new steps of LCD projector.
