DEAD TRACTS

Disintegration of odontoblastic process may occur due to attrition

abrasion erosion restorative material oral cavity preparation.

In dried ground sections of teeth all dental tubules appear like dead
tracts.

This may be observed in unerupted teeth in the region of narrow

pulpal horns.

Reparative dentin seals the tubules at the pulpal end of these dead
tracts.

Dead tracts are surrounded by narrow zone of sclerotic dentin.

In all the cases dentinal tubules are filled with gaseous substances.
