WHY ANIMATED FILMS?
Romania has a tradition in the animated film:

• The first award won by the Romanian filmmakers at the famous Cannes Film Festi-
val was the Palme d’Or (1956) for A Brief History, an animated film directed by Ion
Popescu Gopo

• The Romanian audience is active and faithful to this film genre. The people who at-
tend the festival have good knowledge in the field of film and animation, they have
expectations from the festival, and the young artists are enthusiastic and eager to be
known and successful.

Anim'est was created for them!

THE ANIM’EST CONCEPT
Anim’est has had well defined aims ever since its creation:

• SCREEN THE BEST AND MOST ANTICIPATED FILMS OF THE YEAR

• BRING TO BUCHAREST THE STRONGEST NAMES IN THE ANIMATION INDUSTRY

WORLDWIDE

• RE-ANIMATE ROMANIAN ANIMATION

Besides screenings, concerts and exhibitions, the festival also includes workshops, master-
classes, presentations and debates meant to activate Romanian animators and put them in
contact with the international scene.

of an absolutely necessary animation school, which does not exist in our country.

Up to now, we have organised:

It is worth mentioning that, along the years, the audience of the festival has grown, from film lovers to a more

numerous active community, who generally attend important events all over the country, who are interested in a

variety of domains, and who have high expectations when attending an event.

The MINIMEST section of the festival is dedicated to our young audiences, from very young children to teenagers,
