MARKING
A B2 student, according to the CEFR, “Can understand the main ideas of complex text
on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of
specialisation. Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular
interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. Can
produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a
topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.” (pg. 24)
SPEAKING: based on the following definition from the CEFR for “overall oral
production”, a B2 candidate: “Can give clear, detailed descriptions and presentations on
a wide range of subjects related to his/her field of interest, expanding and supporting
ideas with subsidiary points and relevant examples.” (pg. 58).
WRITING: based on the following definition from the CEFR for “overall written
production”, a B2 candidate: “Can write clear, detailed texts on a variety of subjects
related to his/her field of interest, synthesising and evaluating information and
arguments from a number of sources. ” (pg. 61).
