Walter Reynolds Sanne Walden The City of Milledgeville City of Milledgeville Press Release ‘September 12, 2018 From the Office of City Manager Barry Jarrett: As has been previously reported, on Saturday morning, August 18, 2018, City of Milledgeville Chief of Police Dray Swicord self-reported to me that during the evening hours of Friday, August 17, 2018, he was driving his personal vehicle in or near Ivey, Georgia and he was stopped by a trooper of the Georgia State Patrol and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol ("DUI"). After being informed of this incident by Chief Swicord, | requested that the City Attorney gather all available information regarding the DUI charge and report back to me so | could consider appropriate disciplinary sanctions, After careful consideration of the facts and circumstances that | have been made aware of regarding this matter, and giving appropriate consideration for Chief Swicord’s years of service to the City of Milledgeville, and his excellent job performance as Chief of the Milledgeville Police Department, ! have informed Chief Swicord that | am imposing the following disciplinary sanctions, effective as of September 15, 2018: 1. Chief Swicord shall serve a two (2) week suspension without pay: 2. Upon completing his two (2) week suspension without pay and returning to work, Chief Swicord will receive a five percent (5%) salary reduction for six (6) months; 3. Chief Swicord will be required to successfully complete the Georgia Department of Driver's Services DUI Alcohol Reduction Program at his expense; 4.
