1 Introduction
1.1 About LiDAT
LiDAT is a data transfer and positioning system for Liebherr machines and machines of other
manufacturers. Based on the latest data transfer technology LiDAT supplies information for the
localisation and operation of the machines and thereby enables efficient management, optimised
deployment planning and remote monitoring.

With LiDAT all important machine data can be viewed at all times. The data is updated several
times a day and can be called up using a web browser at any time. Information that is particularly
important such as reports of certain operating states and deployment parameters can also be
sent to your email account if required.

System requirements
LIDAT is suitable for Internet Explorer Version 9 or later. A minimum resolution of 1280x720 pixels
is recommended for optimum presentation of the web pages. In order to be able to export the
reports, version 10 of later of Adobe Reader is required.

1.2 Liebherr LiDAT training and support

1.3 Function blocks

LiDAT is divided into several sections. You do not need to use or even be familiar with all the
sections in order to use LiDAT effectively.

Machine management
The machine management functions give you an overview of your fleet. Liebherr machines as well
as those of other manufacturers are supported.

If there are no machines in your fleet you cannot use any other function blocks.

Operational planning
LiDAT's operational planning functions allow you to plan and monitor the fleet's activities.

Notifications
LiDAT uses notifications to tell you about various events on the machines.

Restrictions
You can use restrictions to find out whether machines are used for purposes that you have not
specified.

Maintenance
The maintenance function block in LiDAT helps you keep all the appointments for the machines in
your fleet.

Reports
Use reports to print out information on your fleet or export it to other applications.

User and organisation management

Every user who works with LiDAT must have a user account and be assigned to an organisation.

1.4 First steps

Initial contact
Your first contact with LiDAT is in the form of two e-mails containing your login name, a short
name for your organisation, a password and a ‘Getting Started’ document. This happens when
your organisation buys its first machine with LiDAT functions or if you are a new user in an
organisation that already uses LiDAT. In both cases, a user account has been set up for you. All
you need is a computer with internet access and a web browser.

Start your web browser and go to this address: www.lidat.liebherr.com

Enter your login name, the short name of your organisation and the password, and click “Login”.

LiDAT
Introduction 5

If the login process is successful, LiDAT displays your personal start screen. You can modify it to
see the most important information for you at a glance (see Modifying the start screen). For the
moment, we will keep the default settings. When these are used, your start screen, for example,
will look as follows:

If the login process fails, LiDAT remains on the login screen with an error message. In this case,
the combination of the login name, the short name of the organisation and the password was
probably incorrect. Try again or use the “Forgotten password” function (see Forgotten password).

If not used for more than half an hour, LiDAT logs you out for safety reasons and asks
you to log in again at the next opportunity.

See also Portal functions.

LiDAT
6 LiDAT

Screen layout
Certain areas of the screen LiDAT are reserved for particular types of information:

The metanavigation (green) is always available to all LiDAT users. It gives users the opportunity to
log in or out, as well as access to the online help and site map.

The main navigation (blue) offers a selection of function blocks in LiDAT and the number of entries
in it according to the role of the user.

The subnavigation (red) allows users to access individual functions within a block. It changes
according to the function block selected in the main navigation. It also varies according to the
user's role.

The working area takes up the rest of the screen. This is where you interact with the function
selected via the subnavigation.

See also Portal functions.

My settings
First look at the settings in your user account. This information indicates the roles that have been
assigned to you. From this, LiDAT derives your authorisations.

To view the settings for your user account, click “Settings” in the main navigation and then “My
settings” in the subnavigation. LiDAT then shows you the following screen:

LiDAT
Introduction 7

The fields are explained in the sections on personal data, communication and roles in Creating a
user account.

The fields in the “Settings” section only apply to your user.

LiDAT
Introduction 9

Remarks Free remarks on this user.

Settings Settings for the user. These include the language of the portal
and the units displayed (see also My settings).

Roles The roles define the functions that the users have access to.
(See also Roles).

Fields marked with a * must be completed.

To create the user, click “Save”.

To reject the entries, click “Cancel” or select a different program function using the main
navigation and subnavigation.

See also User administration.

User roles
Users have various roles in LiDAT. The required functions are enabled according to each user's
role. Users can perform several roles at once. This means that you can determine what a user
may do by assigning the roles.

An organisation also can perform various activities. In LiDAT, they are grouped into organisation
types in a similar way to the roles (see Organisation management). Each role is implicitly assigned
to at least one organisation type. The following section lists all the roles with a short description
and the associated organisation types:

1.5.1 Starting up LiDAT

Go to the following internet address: https://www.lidat.liebherr.com.

Enter your user name, organisation and password in the window that appears next.

Press Enter to confirm or click “Login”.

If you have forgotten your password, click “Forgotten password?” and enter the requested
information. The system automatically assigns a new password and sends it to your e-mail
address.

The way a machine is displayed in the system depends on the ownership type (owner/service
partner/renter) of the machine and the user roles assigned to you. As well as this, machines from
suborganisations are visible. Therefore, the options shown here may be different to the options
available for your machines.

You can customise the columns and rows displayed.

To do this, move your mouse over “Personal settings” and click the “Grid settings” button.

In the field next to “Rows:”, enter the number of machines you require and click the “Save”
symbol.

In the next window you can choose which columns are displayed and which are not.

provides functions to help you manage the machines.

You can list all the machines, and sort or search for them using certain criteria.

You can form groups depending on how you want to manage your fleet.

1.5.2.1 Searching for machines

The “Machines” tab contains a list of all the machines that match your filter criteria and that you
are entitled to view. If you have already created machine groups, the list on the left only lets you
see the machines in that group. You can enter various criteria at the top for filtering the list in
detail.

LiDAT
