OBJECTIVES •
Describe the operation of the relay •
Types of relays:
a) Electromechanical rolas
- Conventional
- Polarized
- Reed investors
b) Hibride relays
c) Reed investors Structure of a relay:
In general we can distinguish in the general scheme of a relay the following blocks:
GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
The general characteristics of any relay are
The insulation between the input terminals and the input and output terminals
.Easy adaptation to the control source.
Possibility of withstanding overloads, both in the input circuit and in the output circuit
.The two working positions in the output terminals of a relay are characterized by: in the
open state of impedance can, and in closed state of low impedance
. For solid state relays you can add: Large number of commutations and long service life.
Connection in the voltage step by zero, disconnection in the current step by zero
. Absence of mechanical switching noise.
Low command power, compatible with TTL and MOS.
Insensitivity to shocks and blows.
Closed to external influences by a plastic coating.
ELECTROMECHANICAL RELAYS
They are formed by a coil and contacts which can switch direct current or alternating current. We
are going to see the different types of electromechanical relay
. Armature type relays
They are the oldest and also the most used. The following scheme explains practically its
constitution and functioning. The electromagnet makes the armature vascular when excited, closing
the contacts depending on whether it is N.O or N.C (normally open or normally closed).
Mobile core relays
These have a plunger in place of the previous armor. A solenoid is used to close its contacts, due to
its greater attractive force (hence it is useful to handle high currents).

Look for cable of different color for each circuit so as not to make mistakes.
CONCLUSIONES
The importance of electrical circuits is such that in any installation, however simple
or complex, we will have them and they are the basis of all electrical installations,
whether domestic or industrial.
. The armed circuits in class will help us in the future as we will work in the plant.
There are several types of electrical circuits depending on several factors, such as
type of electrical current, type of load, type of connection
