Bernama lengkap Abdul Somad Batubara, Lc., D.E.S.A. Beliau akrab dikenal sebagai Ustadz Abdul
Somad. Ia lahir di sebuah desa bernama Silo Lama di wilayah kabupaten Asahan, Sumatera Utara
pada tanggal 18 Mei 1977.

Masa Kecil Abdul Somad

Sejak kecil, orang tua Abdul Somad sudah memasukkan Abdul Somad disekolah yang berkultur
agama islam. Ustad Abdul Somad memulai sekolahnya di SD Al-Washliyah Medan dan tamat disana
pada tahun 1990.

Dari situ, orang tuanya kemudian memasukkannya ke sekolah pesantren Darularafah di wilayah
Deliserdang, Sumatera Utara. Disana ia mengenyam pendidikan selama satu tahun sebelum pindah ke
Riau pada tahun 1994 dan bersekolah di Madrasah Aliyah Nurul Falah di wilayah Indragiri Hulu dan
tamat pada tahun 1996.

Setelah menamatkan sekolahnya, Ustad Abdul Somad kemudian melanjutkan pendidikannya di

jenjang perguruan tinggi. Ia kuliah di UIN SISKA Riau. Di kampus ini, Ustad Abdul Somad hanya
mengenyam pendidikannya selama dua tahun saja, hingga tahun 1998.

Kuliah di Al-Azhar, Kairo, Mesir

Ustad Abdul Somad melanjutkan pendidikannya di Universitas Al-Azhar, Kairo, Mesir setelah
berhasil mendapatkan beasiswa dari pemerintah Mesir. Ia terpilih sebagai salah satu dari 100
penerima beasiswa dengan mengalahkan 900 pelamar lainnya.

Di Universitas Al-Azhar, Mesir, Abdul Somad menyelesaikan kuliahnya dalam kurun waktu 3 tahun
10 bulan dan berhasil mendapatkan gelar .Lc (License) yang merupakan gelar bagi lulusan pendidikan
di kawasan timur tengah termasuk Mesir.

Ustad Abdul Somad kemudian melanjutkan pendidikan S2 nya pada tahun 2004 di Maroko tepatnya
di Institut Dar Al-Hadis Al-Hassania melalui beasiswa kerajaan Maroko. Abdul Somad merupakan
salah satu dari 5 orang asing yang diterima kuliah disana. Abdul Somad menyelesaikan pendidikan
masternya dalam jangka waktu 1 tahun 11 bulan dan meraih gelar D.E.S.A (Diplôme d'Etudes
Supérieurs Approfondies).

Menjadi Dosen dan Penceramah

Ustad Abdul Somad diketahui bekerja sebagai dosen bahasa arab dan tafsir hadist di Universitas Islam
Negeri Sultan Syarif Kasim dari tahun 2009. Selain itu beliau juga mengajar sebagai Dosen Agama
Islam di Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam Al-Azhar Yayasan Masmur, Riau. Beliau juga pernah aktif
sebagai Anggota MUI Provinsi Riau dan Sekretaris Lembaga Bahtsul Masa’il Nahdlatul Ulama dan
anggota badan amil zakat di Riau dari tahun 2009 hingga 2014.
Kini Ustadz Abdul Somad aktif dalam memberikan ceramah agama islam di berbagai pelosok di
wilayah Indonesia. Dimulai dari memberikan dakwah agama melalui kanal Youtube nama Ustad
Abdul Somad semakin dikenal di masyarakat setelah video-video ceramahnya menjadi viral di
internet.

Ceramah atau isi dakwahnya menegnai agama islam sangat berbobot sesuai dengan kapasitas dirinya
sebagai seorang ulama, da'i sekaligus dosen agama islam. Pertanyaan dari para jamaahnya ia jawab
berdasarkan sesuai pandangan-pandangan imam mazhab dan mudah dimengerti. Sosoknya yang
cerdas dan gayanya yang sederhana membuat Ustad Abdul Somad banyak disukai oleh jamaah atau
masyarat sehingga ia banyak menerima undangan untuk ceramah.

Ustad Abdul Somad juga banyak menerjemahkan buku-buku dari Timur Tengah yang memuat
mengenai permasalahan seputar rumah tangga dalam islam dan permasalah lain dalam agama islam.
Beliau juga sudah menulis tiga buah buku yang berjudul 37 Masalah Populer, 99 Pertanyaan Seputar
Sholat dan buku berjudul 33 Tanya Jawab Seputar Qurban.

Biography of Ustadz Abdul Somad, Lc. Ma
Named Abdul Somad Batubara, Lc., D.E.S.A. He is familiarly known as Ustadz Abdul
Somad. He was born in a village called Silo Lama in the district of Asahan, North Sumatra on
May 18, 1977.

Abdul Somad childhood

Abdul Somad's parents have put him in a school that is religiously Islamic. Ustad Abdul
Somad started his school at SD Al-Washliyah Medan and graduated there in 1990.
Then, his parents then put it into the school Darularafah pesantren in Deliserdang region,
North Sumatra. There he studied for a year before moving to Riau in 1994 and attended the
Madrasah Aliyah Nurul Falah in Indragiri Hulu area and graduated in 1996.
After graduating from school, Ustad Abdul Somad then continued his education at college
level. He studied at UIN SISKA Riau. On this campus, Ustad Abdul Somad only received his
education for two years only, until 1998.

Courses in Al-Azhar, Cairo, Egypt

Ustad Abdul Somad continued his education at Al-Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt after
obtaining a scholarship from the Egyptian government. He was selected as one of 100
scholarship recipients by beating 900 other applicants.
At the University of Al-Azhar, Egypt, Abdul Somad completed his lecture in 3 years and 10
months and earned a degree. License (License) which is a title for educational graduates in
the Middle East region including Egypt.
Ustad Abdul Somad then continued his S2 education in 2004 in Morocco precisely at the Dar
Al-Hadis Al-Hassania Institute through a Moroccan royal scholarship. Abdul Somad is one of
5 foreigners who are accepted to study there. Abdul Somad completed his master's education
in 1 year and 11 months and earned his D.E.S.A (Diplôme d'Etudes Supérieurs
Approfondies) degree.
Become a Lecturer and ustadz.
Ustad Abdul Somad works as a lecturer of arabic language and tafseer of hadith at the State
Islamic University of Sultan Syarif Kasim from 2009. In addition he also teaches as a
Lecturer of Islamic Religion at Al-Azhar Islamic High School Foundation Masmur, Riau. He
has also been active as a MUI Member of Riau Province and Secretary of Bahtsul Masa'il
Institution Nahdlatul Ulama and members of amil zakat agencies in Riau from 2009 to 2014.

Now Ustadz Abdul Somad is active in giving lectures on Islam in various parts of Indonesia.
Starting from giving religious da'wah through the channel Youtube Ustad Abdul Somad
name increasingly known in the community after his lecture videos become viral on the
internet.

The contents of his da'wah about the religion of Islam is very good and in accordance with
his capacity as as an educator, da'i and lecturer of Islamic religion. Questions from his
congregations he answered according to the views of the Imam of the School and are easy to
understand. His intelligent figure and modest style make Ustad Abdul Somad much preferred
by the congregation or masyarat so he received many invitations to lecture.
