NOTE:
All piling works are classified as PROVISIONAL due to the
uncertainty in determining the ‘extent of work’ i.e the depth of
penetration of pile.

Therefore, the quantities measured in the bill will be subject to

remeasurement after completion of the piling works. This will be
done using the piling records prepared during the execution of the
works.

stated.

E.3 Starting levels

1. The levels from which the work is expected to begin
and from which measurements have been taken shall
be stated. Irregular ground shall be so described.

E.4 Plant
1. The following items shall be given separately for each
type of pile identified in accordance with clause E.5.1:

removing from site all plants required for this
section of work.
b. An item shall be given for maintaining on site all
plants required for this section of the work.
Example of description:
Allow for the provision of all necessary piling equipment, plants
and tools and for their transportation to the site, handling ,
erecting, assemblying and removal off the site after completion
of piling operations - ITEM

Example of description:
Allow for moving and handling of piling equipment about the
site as often as and when necessary anf for the whole operation
including all maintanence and idling time - ITEM

Normally, another additional item is provided for the provision of

piling records to be prepared by the Contractor during the
execution of piling works.

Example of description:

separately.

2. Within the classification provided in accordance with

clause E.5.1, items shall be given in accordance with
clauses E.5.3 – 5 grouped under subheadings which state
the following:
a. nominal cross sectional size
b. the materials of which the piles are composed
and in the case of steel pile, the nominal
weight per metre.
 concrete - concrete mix
 steel – grade of steel

3. For piles other than cast-in-place concrete and

interlocking steel piles (i.e timber, precast concrete) items
shall be given for:
a. The total number of piles stating the
specified length. The size and weight of heads
and shoes shall be stated in the description.
( This is for the item of ‘Supply of pile’).
b. The total driven depth given in metres.
( This is for the item of ‘Driving of pile’ ).
7. In the case of pile extensions, items shall be given for:
