proponents of freedom of the press no less than the school paper advisers of different
participating schools and little journalists, proud parents and awesome visitors, A BLESSED
MORNING!

We’re truly blessed because we all survived the rage of Ompong’s hit. Despite of the calamity
we peacefully managed to come here in the 2018 District Schools Press conference with the
theme: Fostering 21st century Skills and Character-based Education through campus
journalism.” What a great theme! Why? Because the theme really gives us the full grasp of what
are to be expected in our activity today. Why? Because in the different contested activities the
21st Century skills such as Critical thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, Communication,
Information literacy, Media literacy, Technology literacy and Flexibility are immensely
integrated in all of the categories like in Newswriting, Feature writing, cartooning, collaborative
publishing, editorial writing and others.

Napakasu-swerte ninyong mga bata dahil kayo ang napiling pinaka-magagaling na mga
journalists sa inyong mga eskwelahan! Kayo ang nabigyan ng pagkakataon na mahasa ang galing
sa pagsulat at pagbabalita. Malay niyo paglaki niyo hihirangin kayong sikat na journalist. Sino sa
inyo ang nakakakilala kay Korina Sanchez? Kay Noli De Castro? Kay Arnold Clavio, Kay Atom
Araulio, Kay Dong Puno? Kay Ces Drilon? Kay Bernadette Sambrano? Kay Karen Davila? Kay Vicky
Morales? Kay Kara David? Kay Mel Tiangco? Kay Jessica Soho? Sila ang ilan lang sa mga
magagaling nating mga journalists sa panahon natin ngayon. Gusto niyo bang maging kagaya
nila balang araw? Siyempre! Sino ba ng may ayaw na parating napapanood sa TV habang
nagbabalita? Hindi ba? Gusto nating lahat iyon kaya nga ang ating distrito sa pangunguna ng
ating butihing Schools District Supervisor madam perlita M. salviejo ay inilunsad ang patimpalak
na ito. Ito ang maliit na hakbang para sa napakamalaki ninyong pangarap.
