e. Observation to the Students

I and my classmates conducted and

observed a grade 9 (junior high
school class) with 56 students at
around 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm august
29, 2018. Their teacher is Mr. Winnie
Fredo Prayte. The weather is good
but little bit hot. Here is the picture of
the class and their teacher, sir Prayte
doing classroom discussion about certain topic in music. The room is clean
and the floor is shine with wax, with only one ceiling fan at the front of the
room. The students are not wearing their shoes inside the classroom to
maintain its cleanliness, some of them are wearing indoor slippers and some
are not, just their socks. Socks that gets dirty as time passes by, especially in
the afternoon where some of the dusts are entering inside the room. And if it
is raining, their socks will get wet and messy. Hence, all students will be
required to bring indoor slippers. Their shoes were properly arranged in the
shoe rack, place at the side of the room. When sir Prayte starts the discussion,
they open their book on
page 23 and read about
when the music started,
while sir is calling
someone to read the
definition about sonata,
the students at the back
starting to make noise
and murmuring talking to
each other but still, they
are afraid to be noticed
since that he is facing in the blackboard and writing something about the
discussion which is ancient music. I am seating at the back, so I clearly hear
what the students are saying. One that I observe also is their ceiling fan, it is
located in front, and air is not evenly distributed especially at the back part,
since temperature is hot, students will not concentrate on the lesson, and they
will get sleepy and bored.

Second day of observation was in Senior High School with sir Punzalan,
a math teacher. Before I start observing, he introduce me first in front of class.
Then, sir Punzalan continue the lesson and I place myself at the back of the
class to observe. The weather is
moderately hot again. The
classroom is wide and clean but
there is no ceiling fan. But its fine
because the windows are open,
fresh air is continuously entering
the room. I also observed, that
their classroom is too wide for the
students to clearly hear what their
teacher is discussing especially if the teacher is on moderate tone and sitting
arrangement of the students is far from the place where the teacher stands
and do his lecturing. I think it must be re-arrange because some students at
the back are not listening, murmuring and talking to each other and some are
transferring from one seat to another.

f. Insight as a Teacher

What can I do as a teacher someday? I want student to learn in a safe

and comfortable environment so that their self-esteem will be enhanced. A
high self-esteem will enable them to strive harder and accomplished any goals
they set for themselves. As a teacher, I will play a part in helping them to do
that. I will have privilege of shaping future parents and productive members
of society. Teaching is more than a job, its important contribution can make
our society better, and I am excited to do so.
