New Features
This section lists features that were added in the new release of the IC-304 print
controller software.
General
Finisher Support
Finishing Configurations
In this version, three new finishing configurations were added:
• Stacker, Saddle stitch, and Stapler
• Multi fold, Stacker, and Saddle stitch
• Multi fold, Stacker, and Perfect binder
In this version, the Multi hole punch is supported. The Multi hole punch is compatible
with copiers and finishing devices, and is used for punching a variety of die set
patterns. There are two base units configured to punch letter size and A4 size
documents. Although the configurations are similar, they differ to accommodate
power and edge registration.
Sheets that pass through the punch path are punched as individual sheets along the
lead edge. Punch chads are collected in a punch container.
Each Multi hole punch module has two paper paths, punch and bypass. Sheets
directed through the bypass are passed to the connected finishing device.
12 IC-304 Print Controller 2.1 Release Notes
In this version, the Multi hole punch is available in five finishing configurations :
• Multi hole punch and Stapler
• Multi hole punch, Multi fold, and Stapler
• Multi hole punch, Saddle stitch, and Stapler
• Multi hole punch, Stacker, and Stapler
• Multi hole punch, Stacker, and Perfect binder
Color Profiles
The following color profiles were added in this version:
• ISOcoated_v2_eci
• ISO_Uncoated
These profiles are a good choice in cases where the intended printing condition is
not yet known. Prepress data prepared with this profile can be converted to many
other printing conditions with good results, however, the best possible results will be
achieved with CMYK prepress data prepared with the profile that matches that
printing condition exactly.

tray.
3. Click Retrieve.
The IC-304 print controller retrieves the archived VDP elements and displays them
at the end of the file list in the Cached VDP elements dialog box.
Pro Kit Features 19
Split to Booklets
Splits a PostScript, PDF or large VDP job that does not have a booklet structure into
booklets. The file can then be processed as a variable data file and you can—for
example, set the imposition method per booklet or cache VDP elements.
Note: Unexpected results might occur when you use this option for VDP jobs that already
have a booklet structure.
9. Click Save.
All saved templates appear on the Imposition tab, under Layout. After you select an
imposition method, and Take from template, the related templates appear in the
Templates list. For example, if you created a Step and Continue template, the
template appears in the Templates list only when you select the Step and Continue
imposition method.
Note: A Step and Repeat imposition template will appear in the Templates list when the
Repeat image imposition method is selected.
Viewing Templates
As you create or modify a template, you can see your template in the template
viewer. As you select parameters, the template viewer dynamically changes to
reflect your selections
.
Notes:
In the template viewer, you can view an imposition template in three ways:
• Click Front to view the front pages.
• Click Back to view the back pages.
• Click Both to view both the front and back pages simultaneously.
Modifiying Templates
The template viewer enables you to rotate one or more pages and change the
location of pages on the sheet.
The gray arrow on each page indicates the top of the page. The page number is
indicated by the number that appears on each page.
2. Click the Page Number box, type the number of the page that you want to move
to the target location, and press ENTER.. For example, you would type 5 to
place page 5 in the location of page 1.
The page moves to its new location.
Important: The page number that was previously in the target location is not
automatically moved to another location. To retain this page, manually move
this page to a new location.
If you have a duplex job and the Apply changes to front and back check box is
selected, the page number for the back side of the page also changes. Using the
example above, page 6 would be on the back side of page 5.
