There is – There are

They are used to indicate that an object or a person is in a specified


place. The peculiarity of these structures is that there is not the real
subject of the verb to be, although it precedes it. The real subject of
the verb is in the position immediately after

There is a book on the table.


There are two books on the table

Do not use there's with plural nouns. We say There are a lot of people here.
