2.01 Supply, handle, pitch and drive 75 mm dia. (ave) x 4.5 m long
bakau pile at 450 mm c/c to foundation of concrete pipe
culverts, drains and at locations as directed by the S.O.
Contractor to inform S.O. the source of bakau piles before
order.

PILING RECORD

2.02 Prepare and submit three (3) bound copies of piling records
of driven bakau piles complete with photographs and plans
showing their locations,which have been certified by the
Supervising Staff for review by PKNS/MINCONSULT. - Sum -

PRECAST CONCRETE CULVERT

2.03 Supply, lay and joint Precast Reinforced Culvert to the


required grade and level including excavation, formwork,
reinforcement, concrete foundation, cement mortar jointing,
backfilling and disposal of surplus material.

Note: The precast units shall be butt jointed with 12.5 mm


thick cement mortar. A layer of 300 mm wide Kiara Tex
20 geotextile or equivalent shall be glued around
every joint of the culvert.

2.04 Construct Reinforced Concrete Sump Grade 25 for culvert


inlet/outlet.

Note: Rate shall include excavation, granular backfilling,


compaction, disposal of surplus materials, 50mm thick
concrete screed grade 15, formwork, reinforcement,
and stainless steel steps embedded in R.C. wall as
per contract drawing.

ELEMENT NO. 3 - ROADWORKS

Note: a) The contractor shall note that the wearing course


cannot be laid immediately after laying of the binder
course.
b) Only when the Engineer is satisfied, that the surface of
the binder course is to the required level and gradient
and there is no ponding of water, will approval be
given to commence with the wearing course.

SUBGRADE

3.01 Excavation work for preparation of subgrade to the required


formation level and camber and dispose off the excavated
material including compaction all in accordance to the drawing
and specification.

a. Within PKNS site 5,000 m3

b. Contractor's own dumping ground not exceeding 5 KM


from site. ( The contractor shall provide a receipt for the
proof ) 2,500 m3

ROAD FORMATION

3.02 Prepare formation for receiving road pavement and side -table.

Note: Rate shall allow for compaction by rollers to achieve


required bearing capacity.

a) Formation below Metalled Road 10,200 m2

b) Formation for Side Table 8,500 m2

GEOTEXTILE MEMBRANE TS50

3.03 Supply and lay non-woven geotextile Polyfelt TS 50 or equivalent


on surface of newly-completed subgrade, as directed by the
Engineer.

Note: Rate shall include for lapping and jointing in accordance


with manufacturer's instructions. 10,200 m2

SUB-BASE

3.04 Supply, spread and compact river sand, or approved granular


material, on prepared subgrade of road.

Note: Rate shall allow for checking of thickness at 15-30 metres


interval and reinstating after checking is completed.

BASE COURSE

3.05 Supply, lay and compact crusher run for road base

Note: Rate shall allow for checking of thickness at 15-30 metres


interval and reinstating after checking is completed.

CBR TEST

3.06 Supply all necessary labour, materials, equipment and plants


needed to carry out California Bearing Ratio (CBR) tests as
directed by the S.O and/or as required by the authorities on the
following surface:

a) Subgrade 12 No.

b) Sub-Base 12 No.

c) Base Course 20 No.

Note: i) The contractor shall liase with Majlis Perbandaran


Selayang and arrange for their officer to witness their
tests.

ii) All costs incurred in facilitating MPS officer's visit shall


be bonded to contractor and allowed for in this rate.

BITUMINOUS PRIME COAT

3.07 Supply and apply bituminous prime coat to surface of the


roadbase including cleaning of the surface of the roadbase prior
to the application of Bituminous Prime Coat all in accordance with
the Specification and as directed by the Engineer.

Note: The rate of application shall be not less than 0.44 liters per
sq.m 10,200 m2

PONDING TEST

3.09 Carry out an inspection of the metalled road (bindercourse)


surface after a heavy shower or, alternatively, after pouring water
on the road surface, to determine ponding areas on the road
surface.

Note: i) Rate shall allow for marking out areas of ponding with
white paint.
ii) Rate shall also allow for ponding test to be repeated
after the initial ponding areas have been regulated. - Sum -

BITUMINOUS TACK COAT

3.10 Supply and applly bituminous tack coat to surface of the Bitumen
Macadam Binder Course.

Note: Rate shall include cleaning of surface of binder course


prior to application, as directed by the S.O. The rate of
application shall not be less than 0.33 litres per sq.m 10,200 m2

WEARING COURSE

3.11 Supply, lay, roll and compact Hot Rolled Asphalt final wearing
course (ACWC 14) in accordance with the Specification and as
directed by the Engineer to compacted thickness as specified:

CORING TEST

3.12 Allow for coring tests to determine thickness of binder course and
wearing course in accordance to the B.S. Specification and as
directed by the S.O

Note: i) Coring tests shall be carried out at the rate of one (1)
no. per 500m² of metalled pavement.
ii) Photographs shall be taken of each cored sample
together with a tape alongside to indicate the thickness
of each layer.
iii) Three (3) bound copies of Coring tests results c/w
photographs of samples and plans showing locations of
tests, which have been certified by the Supervising staff
and the Contractor's Site Agent, shall be submitted for
the review of PKNS / MPS / Minconsult.

BACKLANE R.C SLAB

3.13 Construct concrete slab for backlane including excavation in all


materials (except rock), backfilling with granular materials, BRC
A8, crusher run and construction joints at 3.048 c/c.

ROAD KERB

3.14 Supply all labour, material, equipment and plants to construct


Extruded Concrete Road Kerb as per drawing no.
PKNS/MINCO(KA)/G/KP/S8-3A/T/RD/04.

Note: i) Rate shall allow for preparation of road base to ensure


maximum bonding between the kerb and the base.
The kerb shall be extruded using a kerb machine.

ii) Rate shall allow for 10mm wide x 10mm deep


construction joint at 3m intervals and expansion joint at
every 9m.

iii) Rate shall alow for provision of openings in kerb at


regular intervals to allow for drainage of water through
scupper pipes.

3.16 Supply all materials and labour as specified, set out and paint the
following carriageway markings with "hot applied" tropical-
formulated Thermo-plastic screed as shown in the Drawings.

a) 100mm wide Lane Marking (1000/1700) 1,850 m

b) 100mm wide Unbroken Line 200 m

c) 150mm wide Edge Line (as directed by the S.O) 3,700 m

d) 300mm wide Stop Line 170 m

3.17 Supply all labour, material, equipment and plants to construct

painting , steel works, etc.

G.I GUARDRAILS

3.20 Supply and install 'Lysaght' or equivalent galvanised single steel


beam guardrail channel secured to 'hot-dipped' G.I steel post as
directed by the S.O and MPS.

Note: i) The rate shall allow for all posts, concrete footings,
painting , steel works, etc.

ii) Rate shall be inclusive of terminal sections, reflector


strips and spacers.

iii) G.I. Steel posts shall be planted at 2 metre centres.

a) G.I Guardrail 200 m

G.I RAILING

3.21 Supply and fix 1.0 m height x 50mm dia. 'hot -dipped' G.I (Class
B) pipe railing as directed by the S.O. as per drawing no.
PKNS/MINCO(KA)/G/KP/S8-3A/T/DR/03.

Note: i) Rate shall allow for excavation, backfilling and


embedding all posts in concrete (Grade 20/20) at 1.5m
c/c as shown in the drawings.

ii) Rate shall also include painting G.I pipe with one (1)
coat of Etching Primer and two (2) coats of gloss paint
in accordance with MPS requirement.

crusher run as shown in the drawing and in accordance to
Engineer's. approval. 2,800 m2

3.24 Supply and lay 100mm thick Grade 20 concrete with 'Broom
Finish pattern' with one layer reinforcement BRC A8 to S.O. 2,800 m2
approval.
