Lesson aims

1. to present themselves by telling their names, thus learning to use verb


to be singular
2. to great people and exchange names by reading the dialogue and practicing
role-play
3. To practice verb to be at the interrogative form by asking questions and to
make the difference between he and she
4. To ask someone s age
5. to match the names with the photos of the stars, thus practicing the use of verb
to be singular and the pronoun she and he

Contents:

In the beginning, the T introduces herself to the students telling them her name.
Then the T asks the students to present themselves also. Ss learn how to great
people, exchange names and ask for someone s age, thus practicing verb to be
singular.

Teaching methods:
the communicative method

Activity 1
Aim: . to present themselves by telling their names, thus learning to use verb to
be singular

Interaction: T->Ss
Time: 10 minutes
Procedure:
WARM-UP: In the beginning, the T introduces herself to the students telling them her
name. Thenthe T asks the Ss to present themselves also by telling their name using : My
name is... I am ....(name). The teacher also gives them an English name written on a
piece of paper. T tells them to keep the paper and to bring the paper at every meeting
because this is going to be their English name and they are going to respond to this
name from now one. The T takes a picture of the class and put their names down while
they are presenting themselves in order to remember their names easier. Ss write their
names on their notebook.

Activity 2
Aim: 2 to great people and exchange names by reading the dialogue and practicing role-
play
Interaction: T->Ss, Ss –> Ss
Time: 5 minutes
Procedure: The T asks some of the students what is their name and welcomes them to
Britain. Following the same pattern, the Ss practice role-play reading the provided
dialogue in the textbook (page 9).

Activity 3
Aim: 3. To practice verb to be at the interrogative form by asking questions and to make
the difference between he and she
Interaction: T-> Ss, Ss->Ss
Time: 10 minutes
Procedure: The T shows the Ss two sheets of papers, one representing a boy and the
other one representing a girl. Than a student comes in the front of the class, facing the
students, while the T shows only to the other Ss one of the sheets. The student in front
asks one of his colleagues if he is a boy or if she is a girl. The S listen to the answer and
tells the T which sheet of paper the T showed to the class. If he is right, T congratulates
the Ss .

Activity 4
Aim: 4. To ask someone s age

Interaction: T->Ss, Ss- Ss
Time: 15 minutes
Procedure: T teaches Ss the numbers by asking them to repeat them in choir and
individually. T asks the Ss their ages and then alows the Ss to ask one another the same
question. Ss practice numbers and verb to be singular.

Activity 5
Aim: 5. to match the names with the photos of the stars, thus practicing the use of verb
to be singular and the pronoun she and he

Interaction: T->Ss, Ss- Ss


Time: 5 minutes
Procedure: The Ss match the names with the photos of the stars and thez writhe their
answers at the blackboard and in their notebooks.

Home assignment: ex. 6b/10 from coursebook

Evaluation: oral ( grading the students)
