Jolly Phonics:
This week we learned about the /a/
sound! The children enjoyed
listening to a story, singing a song,
and learning the /a/ sound motion
(tapping your fingers up your arm).
Second Step:
This week we reviewed the
listening rules and
attentascopes for new
students in our class.
This week we added to our calendar by
creating motions to portray the apple
pattern we are creating. This helps the
children get a better understanding of
the concept. For example, all the red
apples we touch our head and all the
green apples we touch our knees so
our pattern goes head, knees, head,
knees etc. This children made up some
of their own patterns too!
Speech Update:
In speech this week the children played
“name the feeling” game. While playing the game,
the children practiced turn-taking, labeling and
identifying feelings, labeling and identifying objects
in pictures, increasing utterance length,
speech-sounds, answering and asking “wh”
questions, commenting to peers, initiating peer
interactions and following directions.
Ms. F also read ‘Waiting is Not Easy’. While
reading the story, the children practiced answering
“wh” questions, making predictions, identifying and
labeling objects in pictures and labeling feelings.
All About Me Theme;
This week we talked about our
feelings. We create different emotions
looking in the mirror, and then we
played games where the other
children had to guess the emotion on
a peer’s face. Happy faces and scared
faces
were our
favorit to make!
