LESSON OBJECTIVES: by the end of the lesson the students will be able to:
name the activities people can do in famous theme parks
read and write short sentences about the weather, clothes and animals using the Present Tense Continuous
express what the weather is like
DIDACTIC STRATEGIES:
ASSUMPTIONS: Students are already familiar with some words used for this topic
ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS: They may be noisy when working in pairs/groups
SOLUTIONS: Create a pleasant and warm atmosphere, provide explanations when necessary, encourage them to give answers
Warm-up
Activity 1
Aims:
to create a pleasant atmosphere
to gain students’ attention

T greets and marks the absent Ss, if any.
Lead – in
Activity 2
Aims:
to talk about people having fun at two famous theme parks
to consolidate the Present Tense Continuous forms and obtain feedback on individual pupils
T asks the pupils to look at the pictures and say where they think these
people are, what they are doing and who they are with:
-the girl is in Disneyland posing for a picture with Tigger (a character
from the Winnie the Pooh cartoon series)
-the four friends are at Alton Towers riding on the Log Ride.
T checks their answers and asks two pupils to read the completed texts out
loud.
1. B – I’m having breakfast with Tigger.
2 A – We’re riding on the Log Ride.
Speaking
This is me at Disnayland, Paris. I’m having breakfast with Tigger. My
mum is taking the picture.
The teacher asks them to work in pairs and act out dialogues. They will have
to refers to the questions: What’s the weather like today? What are you
wearing? What is your favorite animal?
The pupils perform the role-plays.
The T prompts and corrects them when necessary.
Then, they are told to look at the picture from ex. 2, read the sentences 1-4
and individually answer Yes or No to the questions.
Where the answer is No, she asks them what are the animals doing?
Pupils answer the questions : The elephants are playing with water.
The lion is sleeping.
Then the pupils are asked to have a look at ex 3, read the sentences and choose
the most appropriate response.
The pupils individually read the exercise and choose the correct variant.
While - listening
Activity 4
Aims:
to listen for specific information
to listen to confirm expectations

TION FOCUS
T gives them handouts from the Activity Book and tells the pupils
that now they will have some more practice. She asks them to read T - Ss 10 min Individual Listening
and then write on the board what’s the weather like? in each of the work Speaking
pictures presented. Pair work Writing
The pupils go to the board and write down the correct answers.
T explains Ss that they will listen, tick the box and check the
answers in pairs.
Post listening
Activity 5 Mime
Aims:
to consolidate the Present Tense Continuous forms
to practice talking about the weather, clothes and animals

TION FOCUS
T puts some tickets on the table and invites a pupil to take one and
mime the activity on it. The others will have to guess the mimed
activity. S–S 7 min Group work Speaking
One of them will come in front of the class, and mime some
situations from the ticket. For e.g: “It’s cold, I’m wearing my jacket
and my trousers.”
The other students try guess what’ s the weather like? What is he
wearing?
It’s cold. You’re wearing a jacket and trousers.
T goes around the classroom monitoring the activity and making
sure that the Ss take turns.
Ss ask and answer questions and then report to the class.
Where the answer is no, they will have to complete with the correct Ss - T Individual
action. work
“The girl is riding a horse.” “No. She is riding a bike.”
The pupils listen to the teacher’s instructions and solve the task.
They compare their answers in pairs.
Evaluation
