2018. This article focuses on the idea of whether technology is addictive and its effects.

The author uses multiple opinions from professionals to highlight the main points of the

opposing sides. Along with this, the author features three main questions: Can

technology be addictive?, Are companies intentionally making technology addictive?,

and Should the government help curb the potential for tech addiction? The article is

heavily based upon evidence from companies and opinions from professionals, so there

isn’t much analysis or commentary. The main focus of this article is to

compare the positions of the opposing sides. This article will assist my argument

because it is saturated with evidence that cosigns the idea that technology is in many

ways negatively affecting the youth.

affects human sociability. One of the main points that Waytz and Gray make is that

overuse of technology has a negative correlation with empathy. This article will assist

me because it provides me with evidence suggesting that technology is negatively

impacting our social relationships with each other through our sensitivity to others’

emotions and perspectives.

Dill, Jeffrey S. “Why Parents Worry About Technology, But Struggle To Limit Its Use.”

Institute For Family Studies, 4 March 2014, https://ifstudies.org/blog/why-paren

ts-worry-about-t echnology-but-struggle-to-limit-its-use. Accessed 23 Sept. 2018.

This article is centered around parental opinions of technology use. Dill explains

that while many parents aren’t worried about the advancement of technology

itself, a main concern for parents is that they have less control over the content being

viewed by their children. Because of the media, the amount content one can see by

just opening a few apps on their phone seems almostlimitless. Parents are worried

that they won’t be able to filter certain things out, and that they have less influence on

their children. This article is valuable to my argument because it provides me

with additional reasoning to support my conclusion. Now, along with how technology is

destroying empathy, I can talk about how technology may be making content too

accessible.
