This CRC was enacted because of recognition that these children are social actors, vulnerable beings

Adoption, CRC regulates the implementation of this to serve the best interest of the child.

Negative right – the state parties do not interfere with. Example: Children should not be separated from
their families, Right to Privacy

Positive Right – the state parties interfere to ensure that the right holder like child can fully exercise
such right. Example: Right to Play

Right to Protect – Right to be protected from all forms of violence

4 Features of CRC

1. Formal Recognition of Children as Social Actors – meaning they are part of the community
2. Serves as the code of Conduct for adults/parents on how to treat children
3. Serves as a minimum standard of child care, protection, and guardianship to guarantee full and
correct development
4. List of recognized specific and exclusive rights as a social / legal subject
