INTRODUCTION

Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, more popular known as Reliance Jio,


recently shot to news when Mukesh Ambani announced the ideas and
plans of JIO whivh shook the industry. The industry in 2016, witnessed
one of its most significant development in years, the entry of reliance jio
which created a flutter in the market.Over 100Mn subscribers across
18000+ towns and cities and 2laks villages.India has never before seen
such an explosion in data use as jio upended the strategy of incumbent
telecom operators it dropped prices by over 95% and the average use of
data per subscriber shot up fivefold to 1 gigabyte in march

TENTATTIVE CHAPTERIZATION:

1. HISTORY OF EVOLUTION-In june 2010,Reliance industries bought


96% stake in infotel Broadband Services Limited for Rs 4800 crore, Later
continuing as RIL,S telecom subsidiary,infotel broadband services limited was
renamed as RELIANCE JIO INFOCOMM LIMITED .
2. PARTNERSHIPS AND SCHEMES- Jio shares spectrum with
RELIANCE COMMUNICATIONS.In September 2016,jio signed a pact with
BSNL for intra-circle roaming which would enable users of the operators to use
each other 4G and 2G spectrum in national mode .Prior to its pan-india launch
of 4G data jio has started providing free wi-fi hotspot services in cities
throughout india.

3. VISION AHEAD- Jio has worked with all the leading device manufacturers of
the world to ensure availability of 4G LTE smartphones across all price
points.Jio envisions a new india which will use digital currency instead of paper
money for a more secure and convenient way to transact.Teachers and students
from far flung areas can connect with each other,crowd-source knowledge and
adapt new age learning techniques and thus lift the level of education to a
completely different plane

4. THE SUCCESS STORY- Since its inception led by the visionary leader
and entrepreneur Late Shri Dhirubhai Ambani not only relied on thinking big
but also beat its key competitors by making thinking big as a part of its regular
strategy.A fundamental reason for the success of RELIANCE JIO has been
their regular strategy of thinking big and delivering something that neither
customers nor even competitors can even imagine.

5. RECEPTION OF JIO PRIME-By july,125.5 million jio customers had


opted for Jio prime, The last date for registration to Jio prime membership was
31 march 2017,This was extended until 15 april 2017 along with an
introduction of a new offer ,’JIO SUMMER SURPRISE’ which gave customers
three months of free services .

6.CONTROVERSIES- Jio complained to TRAI and department of telecom


about other operators not honoring their commercial agreements to let jio use their
network resources, DOT dismissed the request and directed TRAI to help settle the
dispute amicably .

CONCLUSION
Although the jio juggernaut has turned things nasty for the serctor’s fortunes with
some calling its aggressive pricing strategies as predatory and anti competitive and
a section of the analysts writing it off as telecom industry,one cannot deny the fact
that Jio will digitally empower India ,improving the quality of life, increase the
market size , and create thousands of employment and entrepreneurship
opportunities.
