Wouxun KG-UVD1 Quick Programming Guide

1. Set to Frequency Mode:

Press <menu> - This puts the radio into menu mode

Press 21 – This selects the “Working Mode” menu.

Press Menu – This engages the “Working Mode” menu.

Use Up or Down Keys (or rotary encoder knob on top) to select “Freq”.

Press <menu> - This saves the setting.

Press <exit> - This places the radio back into service mode.

2. Set Frequency step:

Press <menu> - This puts the radio into menu mode

Press 1 – This selects the “Step” menu.

Press Menu – This engages the “Step” menu.

Use Up or Down Keys (or rotary encoder knob on top) to select step.

Press <menu> - This saves the setting.

Press <exit> - This places the radio back into service mode.

3. Set Receive CTCSS Tone: (note; skip to 5 if using DCS {Digital Coded Squelch} or skip to 7 is
using neither.)

Press <menu> - This puts the radio into menu mode

Press 15 – This selects the “Receive CTCSS” menu.

Press Menu – This engages the “Receive CTCSS” menu.

Use Up or Down Keys (or rotary encoder knob on top) to select tone.

Press <menu> - This saves the setting.

Press <exit> - This places the radio back into service mode.

4. Set Transmit CTCSS Tone: (note; skip to 5 if using DCS {Digital Coded Squelch} or skip to 7 is
using neither.)

Press <menu> - This puts the radio into menu mode

Press 16 – This selects the “Transmit CTCSS” menu.

Press Menu – This engages the “Transmit CTCSS” menu.

Use Up or Down Keys (or rotary encoder knob on top) to select tone.

Press <menu> - This saves the setting.

Press <exit> - This places the radio back into service mode.

5. Set Receiving DCS Group: (note; skip to 7 is using neither.)

Press <menu> - This puts the radio into menu mode

Press 17 – This selects the “Receiving DCS” menu.

Press Menu – This engages the “Receiving DCS” menu.

Use Up or Down Keys (or rotary encoder knob on top) to select group.

Press <menu> - This saves the setting.

Press <exit> - This places the radio back into service mode.

6. Set Transmitting DCS Group: (note; skip to 7 is using neither.)

Press <menu> - This puts the radio into menu mode

Press 18 – This selects the “Transmitting DCS” menu.

Press Menu – This engages the “Transmitting DCS” menu.

Use Up or Down Keys (or rotary encoder knob on top) to select group.

Press <menu> - This saves the setting.

Press <exit> - This places the radio back into service mode.

7. Set Offset Frequency:

Press <menu> - This puts the radio into menu mode

Press 23 – This selects the “Offset Frequency” menu.

Press Menu – This engages the “Offset Frequency” menu.

Use Up or Down Keys (or rotary encoder knob on top) to select frequency.

Press <menu> - This saves the setting.

Press <exit> - This places the radio back into service mode.

8. Set Frequency Shift: (Note; this works with step 7. If step 7 is set incorrectly step 8 will not help)

Press <menu> - This puts the radio into menu mode

Press 24 – This selects the “Frequency Shift” menu.

Press Menu – This engages the “Frequency Shift” menu.

Use Up or Down Keys (or rotary encoder knob on top) to select Shift. (Use “off” if simplex)

Press <menu> - This saves the setting.

Press <exit> - This places the radio back into service mode.

9. Set Offset Frequency:

Press <menu> - This puts the radio into menu mode

Press 23 – This selects the “Offset Frequency” menu.

Press Menu – This engages the “Offset Frequency” menu.

Use Up or Down Keys (or rotary encoder knob on top) to select frequency.

Press <menu> - This saves the setting.

Press <exit> - This places the radio back into service mode.

10. Now Comes the time to program the memories. The memory does not store offsets. Offset is for
VFO (frequency) mode only. You will need to store the transmit and receive frequencies
separately. (Note; This is where most people buy the cable and download the software however,
If you follow these directions you will find you get quicker at storing freqs in memory.)

This example is for a repeater on 147.120MHz with a + offset (or 147.720MHz Transmit
Frequency. Remember all the other information, tones etc will be stored so make sure they are
right.

Enter - 147120

Press <menu> - This puts the radio into menu mode

Press 27 – This selects the “Memory Store” menu.

Press Menu – This engages the “Memory Store” menu.

Enter memory number or Use Up or Down Keys (or rotary encoder knob on top) to select
memory.

Press <menu> - This saves the setting. (Radio should prompt with Receive Stored)

Press <exit> - This places the radio back into service mode.

Enter – 147720

Press <menu> - This puts the radio into menu mode

Press 27 – This selects the “Memory Store” menu.

Press Menu – This engages the “Memory Store” menu.

Press Menu – This stores transmit freq in same memory as last used. (Radio should prompt
Transmit Stored)

Press <exit> - This places the radio back into service mode.

11. Here is where most people get lost because they do not see the programmed channels. You must
change the radio back to Channel Mode.

Set to Channel Mode:

Press <menu> - This puts the radio into menu mode

Press 21 – This selects the “Working Mode” menu.

Press Menu – This engages the “Working Mode” menu.

Use Up or Down Keys (or rotary encoder knob on top) to select “CH”.

Press <menu> - This saves the setting.

Press <exit> - This places the radio back into service mode.

Please note; There are 3 different channel modes. You Choose what you want.
