High School sciences was exciting, we did many investigative projects,

narrative reports, experiments and many Laboratory Works. Earth Science it

is the subject wherein we study more about the earth. Unfortunately, during

my high school, we haven’t discussed about that. Even though our topic in

first year was about general Science, my teacher failed to discuss about

Earth Science. She focused on Physics and Chemistry and a little bit of

Biology even though Astronomy is included on the syllabus for General

Science subject. They put it at the last part of the quarter wherein we wasn’t

able to discuss due to lack of time. I really don't know why did they prioritize

those Sciences. I think it is appropriate to study the earth science first rather

than to study other science in first year. So that we could easily connect and

understand other sciences if we start from the basic, to start on what things

composed of, the environment where we live on, and the Earth where we

move in.

During Second year, we studied Biology, the study of life science. On

the first quarter we studied the specialized branches of biology. Biology is a

branch of science during high school that I’ve enjoyed the most. We studied

Evolution. We made a miniature fossil made from Plaster de Paris. We knew

the two kinds of cell, the Eukaryotes and the Prokaryotes. Cells are further

discussed in the second quarter. Before the discussion we analyze a

macroscopic cell, a Quail egg. We discussed about the organelles until the

cellular respiration. After the discussion of the cells we further discussed the

body systems. We dissected a frog, and studied its anatomy. I took home the
heart and preserved it for almost seven months unlit my mother discovered

that I’m keeping a frog organ inside our cabinet and she told me to dispose

it.

Life Science is a little bit similar to the Earth Science as my opinion,

because we studied fossils different organisms, animals and plants that used

to live here on Earth. The geological features of earth where different

organisms live in.

Third year, the second difficult science that I’ve encountered during

my high school but enjoyable. We did many laboratory works and

experiments. I was amazed when I saw different chemical reactions of

different kinds of chemicals. Like, the white chemical when mixed to another

white chemical changes its color to Blue. Even though I’ve always got almost

failing grades in Chemistry, I enjoyed much that Biology. At the 3rd quarter,

we joined the annual Prep Camp to show some scientific magic tricks to the

kids. During the elimination, I did it perfectly but when the time that I did my

magic in front those kids it was failed. What an embarrassing moment but

instead to leave the stage, what I did was to tell some story and jokes to

divert my failure to an entertainment that was not included to the program.

Physics was my 4th year science, a very difficult subject for me. Maybe

it because of many computations and formulas that is needed to be

memorize. Although it is the subject where I got my 75, I enjoyed it a lot.

Because be build motors and we studied static electricity, the different laws
of different scientist. Not like to the past years, we did few extra activities

but plenty in Laboratory Works and hands-on in making things in relation to

physics.

This is the first time that I encountered Earth Science as a subject

itself. At first, I’d wondered, what does Earth Science all about? Until the time

we discussed for the first time, it is a study about the Earth. It is somehow

related to my major subject, Geography which is in fact just a branch of

Earth Science. During my break time, I usually read articles about earth.

Maybe it is because I love to watch Sci-Fi movies and Documentaries about

the Earth. I could easily relate those movies, to our topics.

I enjoy this subject, like the way I enjoy General Psychology. Some

lessons here in this subject were already taken during elementary and high

school, that's why I am very curious why some of my classmates cannot

appreciate this subject. I remember, I like to share to the documentary that

I’ve watch on Discovery Channel that has a relation to our last topic, no one

are interested to watch or even to hear the story of it.

It is not hard to understand the lesson that was discussed during the

class. We just need to read more; so that we could easily argue during the

discussion whether the reporters commit some an error or give some wrong

or not updated information.
