God promises to give us whatsoever we say, if we can train our tongue

For verily I say unto you, “That, whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea;
and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have what-
soever he saith” (Mark 11 verse 23).
Our Lord Jesus Christ said the words above, when he walked on the face of this earth. He taught his disciples that, death
and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21a) Sometimes when God calls us to do any work for him, either in
the church or secular world. We look at the enormity of the task, and give excuses. We tell God the assignment is above
our ability, our intellect, our skillset or educational achievement. I have realized that God always wants to win with peo-
ple who avail themselves for His work. The Old Testament tells of a dialog between Jeremiah and the Lord. The follow-
ing are what transpired: 4 Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, 5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew
thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. 6
Then said I, Ah, Lord God! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. 7 But the Lord said unto me, say not, I am a child:
for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. 8 Be not afraid of their
faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord. 9 Then the Lord put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And
the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. Many people have said life begins at forty years. Life
actually begins at Calvary. When we come to the Lord, either as youth or adult, God only assures us that, He will be with
us, like He told Jeremiah above. Usually, it is not the size of our enemy or the greatness of our difficulty that defeats us.
Rather, it is our inability to train our tongues to speak words of encouragement, words of inspiration or the choice of
right words. The bible makes it clear that the secret of possessing our possessions; overcoming our limitations; sur-
mounting life’s challenges is in our mouth. Does the Bible not say that, “If any man among you seem to be religious, and
bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain. To live an overcoming life, one needs to
daily train our tongues to speak right. When in doubt, it is better to starve the tongue of worthless words. Can you imag-
ine what Rachel said unto Jacob, “Give me children, or else I die”(Genesis 30:1). Of course, Rachel died after giving
birth to Benjamin. There are lot of people who have made prophets out of their spouses, in-laws, teachers, parents, pas-
tors, bosses, etc. Why believe any negative word someone says about you? In Jesus’ name, cancel or nullify negative
words immediately. To kill a lion or an elephant, you cage it, neglect it and starve it till it dies. Why not do the same to
words of doubt? Cage them in your mouth with your teeth and they will never come out. Many people have found them-
selves in trouble because they refuse to be silent. Peter says, one that will love life, and see good days, must refrain the
tongue from evil, and lips that they speak no guile(1Pet3:10) Remember if Samson had not answered all Delilah’s ques-
tions, disaster could have been avoided. My advice to you, is to sweeten or strengthen your tongue with wonder -
working words by reading the Bible. If the bible says, one can do all things through Christ who strengthens us
(Philippians 4:13), why doubt it? Your marriage can succeed; your work will prosper; your enemies would be defeated;
your children will overcome through Christ who strengthens us. Finally remember, words are free. It's how you use them
that may cost you. (Read 2 kgs7; 2 Kgs 5:1-19; 1 Sam.17:31-58; exodus 4:10-13; Psalm 138:8, Isaiah 38; 54:17)
"If we understood the power of our thoughts, we would guard them more closely. If we understood the awesome power
of our words, we would prefer silence to almost anything negative. In our thoughts and words, we create our own weak-
nesses and our own strengths. Our limitations and joys begin in our hearts. We can always replace negative with posi-
tive." -Betty Eadie

If you are aware of someone in need of a pastoral call, please inform Pastor Derrick on his cell 605-691-
6020. He would rather hear from multiple sources than from no one at all. In these times of privacy rights,
hospitals and nursing homes may not divulge information relating to a resident or patient, so it is very im-
portant that members and/or their families let the Pastor know of all needs for pastoral care.
