Impro,·ements have recently been made in these Ha ngers that will enable them to retain this reputation which they
are so well and justly entitled to.
In the Improved Hangers, to secure a perfect and rigid adjustment, a new locking device has been added to the
Plate which holds the Set Screw and Yoke firmly in position. They are also so constructed that the incline on the Yoke
rests and slides on a corresponding incline on the Plate, thus gi,·ing a double and absolflte!y perfect adjustme11t. The Lugs
a re made of polished steel, perfect in finish and size, and the holes are drilled with special machinery designed expressly
for th is purpose, thus insuring a perfect fit and making them interchangeable.
No cutting or defiz~ing of Door~. either upon the upper edge or side for Plate or Set Screw, is required to place these
Hangers in position, this having been done away with entirely in the Richard's Improved Hanger.
T he following number of pieces compose one set: 4 pieces of \Vood Track 7 feet each, 4 Yokes, 4 \Vheels, 4 Plates,
4 Set Screws, 2 Pockets, 2 Stops, 2 Floor Guides, 4 Buffers.

three-quarter inches or more in thickness.
No. 2-Gives a 4-inch, same style of Nu!, and intended for lighter Doors than just mentioned, in which a lighter
Sheave than the 6-inch may be used.
No. 3-D isplays a 6-inch, with flat frame, to be used where individuals object to boring the Doors for the Hand
Rail pattern, and also where appearance is not a matter of importance. \Vhere this form is used the bar is let in flush or
level with the surface and painted over.
No. 4-Exhibits a 4-inch Sheave of the same fashion as No. 3.
The Frames are all made entirely of \Vrought Iron. The \Vheels of Iron with a Composition Pin.
The Rail is a \Vrought Iron Bar, two inches wide and one-quarter of an inch thick, dressed semi-cylmdrically or
round on the upper edge to fit the Sheave, and drilled for Screws to fasten it on a horizo ntal piece of Timber which is
attached to the studding.
The Rail may be made heavier if desired.

Simplest, m ost Durable a nd most Economical Grate ever produced for \Vindows in Cellars, Barns or Out-Houses;
supplanting the old unhandy way in a single combinatio n so si mple and handy that a child can operate it. The
points of superiority are rich ornamentation and attractiveness. Contains more points and less parts
th a n any e\'er produced. Absolutely Burglar-Proof; withou t Bolt or Padlock. Frame, Grate,
Sash, Glass and Screen combined in so simple a manner as to be readily opened and
shut, for either ventilating, admitting coal, etc., or for keeping ou t air and cold.
Excludes flies, vermin, etc., when ,·entilating. Is cheaper than any
other arrangement for the purpose; can only be opened from
Inside; has no Bolts to get rusted and out of order.
It is no .::\o\·elty, but a Common-Sense arrangement, so simple as to need no explanation when once seen.
Explanation:
The Glass A and Screen B are connected to large grate. The Door C with glass, when shut, excludes the air and
cold , and when open (as cut) admits ventilation ,-the screen B preventing insects and rodents from entering. The
large door has projections at th e end where the door C joins the frame, and is held securely by the journals of the
door C and can only be opened by removing the door C,-which is done at an angle of about 45 degrees, thus
making it absolutely Burglar-Proof, and dispenses with the a nnoyance of Bolts and Lock. The Glass and Screen
are held in position by wires moulded in the casting.
