being able to speak from the heart as a class

these things?

Once students are back in the classroom have them sit on the mat ready

Explain that today we are going to create a poster that is going to go on

Direct students back to their desks to complete the poster attached to this

Allow this time for students to independently write down what they have
learnt and reflect on questions that they may have

Assign 2 students the job of collecting the posters. Once posters are col-

To conclude, ask the children
‘If we were to write a prayer to God to thank him for our feelings what
could we say?’

Prompt if no response, with ideas like:
- We could thank God for giving us feelings
- We could thank God for allowing us to express our feelings
- We could thank God that we can communicate with our feelings
Inform the children that this weeks homework is to go home and write a
prayer to God thanking him for our feelings and emotions. Explain to the
children it is okay to have help from others, especially role models who
are more knowledgeable others to help them.

Transition: (What needs to happen prior to the next lesson?)


Hand out the homework sheet and get the students to put it in their home-
work bag.
Once the children have done that they can stand behind their chair ready
to go to recess.

Dear parents,
During our religious education lessons students have been partaking in the topic of feelings and emo-
tions. It is important for students to understand the relationship between God and our feelings. The
student’s task is to write a prayer, thanking God for giving us feelings. It is important for the children
to include why they are thankful, what they are thankful for and the relationship it has with God.

Some suggestions to begin with:
