General purpose : To inform
Specific purpose : To inform my audience that the number of traffic fatalities has been increasing
over the years and thus immediate actions need to be taken to overcome the problem.
Central idea : The most crucial aspects of road accidents include knowing the background of
the issue, understanding the seriousness of the problem by exploring the increasing number of
cases and factors of accidents through the statistics available and finally discovering more of the
solutions or recommendations available in order to overcome the issue.

INTRODUCTION
I. Attention getter – Let me remind back about tragedy that has happen two years ago in
DUKE highways. Family of 5 on their way back home from wedding feast in putrajaya at
the middle of night, the father driving Pajero sport in middle lane of the highway, without
a warning Myvi car collide with his car form right making him lose control and collided
with another Myvi at the left lane of the road. The Pajero overtuned multiple times and 3
victims got thrown out due to the impact. The driver died on the spot while his wife and
his 7 months old daughter died in HKL. The couple left behind 2 daughters, 7 and 3 years
old. Those my myvi escape unhurt and total of six Perodua Myvis were seen racing on
DUKE before the accident happen.

II. Expert testimony- According to Arifin Che Mat, Road Transport Department (JPJ) deputy
director-general (management) said at the opening the ‘Satu Komuniti Satu JPJ’
programme in Bemban, Jasin. “The number of road accidents kept rising since 2010, except
for 2014 when there was a 0.2 percent drop as compared to 2013,". He added that JPJ, the
relevant authorities and advocacy bodies were intensifying efforts to bring the accident rate
down.

III. Personal testimony- I have witnessed many road accident and near miss accident making
me feel like how reckless of this driver on the road. Because of this reckless driver, other
innocent road user may be one of the victim of the road accident. So, I begin to read article
about road accident online.
IV. The most crucial aspects of road accidents include knowing the background of the issue,
understanding the seriousness of the problem by exploring the increasing number of cases
and factors of accidents through the statistics available and finally discovering more of the
solutions or recommendations available in order to overcome the issue..

BODY

I. The road accident problems have already existed in every part of the world for very
long time since the modern era of technology.
A. The number of traffic fatalities seen arise since 2010.
II. The following charts will highlight the extent and seriousness of the road traffic death
worldwide.
A. The number of road traffic deaths increase a little from year 2001 to 2013 despite
it has plateaued since 2007.
B. WHO organization reported the Road traffic crashes are a leading cause of death
globally among people aged 15-29 years.
1. The highest cause of death case is road traffic injuries and have averagely higher
difference between others.
C. WHO organization reported the Seat-belt behavioral risk factor have the most
change in legislation.
1. The cause of the road accident road user behavior especially to the five key risk
factors for road safety.
D. One of cause road accident is average traffic speeds rise, so too does the likelihood
of a crash and the severity of the consequences.
E. Not wearing seatbelt will increase the risk of fatality among drivers in front seat
passenger.
F. Lastly, Vehicles sold in 80% of all countries worldwide fail to meet basic safety
standards.
III. The road accident problem can be overcome by applying these recommendations
A. Implement good laws relating to key risk factors can be effective at reducing road
traffic injuries and deaths.
B. The Lack of enforcement frequently undermines the potential of road safety laws
to reduce injuries and deaths. More effort needs to be placed in optimizing
enforcement efforts.
C. Making cars safer is a critical component of saving lives on the roads,
Governments must urgently sign up to the minimum international vehicle standards
for manufacturers and assemblers, and limit the import and sale of sub-standard
vehicles in their countries.

curb the problem.

Conclusion
I. Road accident is a serious problem that we as community should be focus of the issue
thus, we have to be alert because we never know one of our relative and friend would
be the one of victim.
II. After we identified the background of the issue, analyzed the seriousness of the
problem by exploring the increasing number of cases and factors of accidents through
the statistics and finally discovered the solutions or recommendations, we can
overcome the issue.
III. The government provide a special court established to expedite the resolution of cases
pertaining to anti-trafficking in persons and inform the victims of the status of their
cases.
IV. As we know, we only live in this world were only for temporary. Don’t make it our life
in vain.
