Hankook Tire is pursuing ambitious growth targets

in Europe

 Hankook Tire with sustainable growth rate in Europe

 Strong growth in the truck- and light truck tyre business in 2010
 Consistent expansion of the fleet business
 Environmentally friendly new commercial vehicle tyre concept, e-cube, introduced
at the IAA Commercial Vehicles Show
 Sustainable investment in Europe; truck tyre production line planned

Neu-Isenburg, Germany, 21 September 2010 – Hankook Tire (www.hankooktire.com), currently the

seventh largest and one of the fastest growing tyre manufacturers in the world, will present itself this year
for the first time at the IAA Commercial Vehicles Show in Hanover. The impressive booth in hall 12
(booth B21) shows the growing importance the European commercial vehicle market has for the company,
which has ambitious growth targets: business with truck tyres alone is expected to grow by about eight per
cent by 2010/2011.

The company's philosophy has traditionally been based on the solid pillars of technological excellence and
sustainable growth. Even in the highly competitive European market for truck- and light truck tyres, this
strategy of sustainability has borne substantial fruits. Starting from a solid fifth market position in Europe,
Hankook Tire is well placed among competitors. Just from 2008 to 2009, the manufacturer increased its
market share by 12 per cent.

Overall, the company is doing well in Europe: Even in the crisis year of 2009, the company managed to
grow (by one per cent) in the economically sensitive commercial vehicles segment. Especially Italy,
Hungary, Spain, the United Kingdom and a stable German market enhanced the operating profit.

Vigorous growth for the truck and light truck tyre division in 2010

For the year 2010, the order books of the tyre manufacturer with Korean roots have been bursting in the
late-cycle business with medium and heavy truck tyres. Compared with a challenging 2009, the company
this year expects strong and stable growth of about six and a half per cent in Europe. One of the central
growth vehicles is the British market, where Hankook Tire further expanded its market share of 19.5 per
cent. In addition, the company holds 15 per cent market share in Ireland and Sweden, in Finland about 12
per cent. In the highly competitive German market for truck and bus tyres, Hankook Tire plans to expand
its current market share of five per cent as well.
A market share of 12.8 per cent for the German market provides Hankook Tire with an excellent position
in the light truck tyre business. Success, however, does not appear out of nowhere: independent tyre tests
confirm the impressive quality of the tyres. The trade magazine Promobil, for instance, named the light
truck tyre Radial RA14 from Hankook Tire the test winner in its April issue (4 / 2010). Its strengths in the
categories of wet braking and aquaplaning as well as handling under wet and dry road conditions
convinced the testers.

Consistent expansion of the fleet business

Leading European logistics companies rely on the high quality of the commercial vehicle tyres from
Hankook Tire, which combine the most advanced tyre technology with a competitive price. Among the
company's customers are, for example, the British market industry leaders FedEx and Royal Mail.
“Logistics companies from all over Europe trust the reliable quality of our tyres. This gives us
confidence,” explains Jin-Wook Choi, Executive Vice-President and European head of Hankook Tire.
“With compelling products and sustained investment in research and development and the qualifications of
our employees, we will succeed and convince more and more leading transport companies of our brand.”

New commercial vehicle tyre concept e-cube

Hankook Tire will present its highly developed commercial vehicle tyre concept, e-cube, at the IAA
Commercial Vehicles Show. The formula e-cube (e³) represents the three key development directions of
energy (lower rolling resistance), economy (high mileage) and environment (reduced pollution and low
noise level). As part of the global developmental technology philosophy known as “Kontrol Technology,”
e-cube is specifically designed to meet the demands and needs of the commercial vehicle industry and to
represent a complete commercial vehicle tyre family at the highest technical level consisting of tyres for
steer and drive axles as well as matching trailer tyres.

Current representatives of the e-cube tyre family will be displayed at the Hankook Tire booth: The AL10 is
a radial tyre for all axle positions and is designed for high mileage in long-distance traffic. Its advanced
tread compound and a special rib pattern ensure low rolling resistance and excellent fuel economy. The
radial tyre DL10 is specially designed for the drive axle and delivers, in addition to high mileage and
uniform abrasion, the best possible traction even in wet conditions. The fuel-saving trailer tyre TL10
completes the e-cube package and is characterized not only by high mileage and uniform abrasion, but also
reduced rolling resistance and low operating temperatures.
Sustainable investments in Europe, truck production line planned

At its European production site in Rácalmás, Hungary, Hankook Tire operates one of the world's most
advanced tyre production plants. The company consistently invests in the development of the site: an
additional 230 million euros are to be invested by 2011, and the annual tyre production will be doubled to
more than 10 million tyres (Cars, Vans, SUVs and Light Trucks). Approximately 1,300 employees are
currently producing 15,000 tyres daily in more than 300 different sizes at the factory, which only started
operations in 2007. Further expansion of the facility and the inclusion of truck tyre production are planned
for the medium term.

Loyal to the self-imposed tradition of sustainable growth, Hankook Tire prevents a shortage of skilled
workers by educating them through a local tyre specialist programme. By 2011, 700 people seeking work
will have participated in the local job training and will receive safe and guaranteed employment after
successful completion of the programme. The company also invests in the training of executives. In
collaboration with the Dunaújváros College, which is near the factory surroundings, a postgraduate studies
programme specially tailored for young engineers and with a focus on tyre development, production and
management has been implemented.

Hungary, which went into operation in June 2007. Here, more than 1,200 employees produce more than
15,000 tyres a day (this amounts to about five million tyres a year) for passenger cars, SUVs and light
trucks in more than 300 different sizes. The state-of-the-art facility produces customised products and
original equipment tyres for the European market in line with the specifications of leading European
automobile manufacturers. Following the second stage of expansion, the Hungarian facility should be able
