On 19th August 2010, XIMB and Concern Worldwide

Worldwide will observe World Humanitarian
Day.
Day It is a day, dedicated to raise awareness about the life, challenges and the principles
which guide the life of an Aid Worker. The theme for this year’s World Humanitarian Day is
‘I am an Aid Worker’. The day also honours those who have been killed or injured for the
humanitarian cause. It is an occasion to remember all the unsung heroes who have risked
their lives for the safety of their fellow men and women.

During an emergency, every minute counts, and every resource, above all staff, must come
together and ensconce their synergies to bring the situation under control before any harm is
done to life and property. This, too, is part of the humanitarian imperative shared by all, and
remembered on this day. While much has been achieved, the challenges faced by many
millions of people around the world are still formidable, and the need for principled and
effective humanitarian action is greater than ever.

So, on this day we implore you to appreciate the gravity of the situation and join hands with
us to spread this message of need for urgent action on this World Humanitarian Day.

XIMB and Concern Worldwide are looking forward to raise awareness about the life of an
Aid Worker with your partnership.
To raise the awareness about the issue and for inculcating a passion and dedication for the
cause, an Essay writing competition is being organized for the students of reputed institutes.
The details about the Essay competition are given on the attached leaflet. We request you to
urge the students of your institute to participate in the event which will help us in spreading
the message deep into the mind and heart of the youth.

Looking forward for a huge participation in Essay writing competition as well as on the day
of the event from your esteemed institute.

XIMB in association with Concern Worldwide India will observe World Humanitarian Day
on 19th August 2010. It is a day, dedicated to raise awareness about the life, challenges and
the principles which guide the life of an Aid Worker.
We invite your participation in the event in the form of essays on the topic:
“Humanitarianism and Climate Change”
Change”
Rules for essay competition:
• The Essay Competition is for individuals and group participation is not allowed.
• Word Limit is 2000 words.(Appendix and references extra)
• There is no restriction on number of entries from any institute.
• Ideas in essay should be strictly original and any plagiarism should be avoided.
• References should be cited wherever necessary.
• Best three entries will be awarded

1st Prize- Rs 4000 Cash + Trophy

2nd Prize- Rs 2500 Cash + Trophy

3rd Prize- Rs. 1500 Cash +Trophy
Best Article will be published in leading newspapers.

Send your entries in MS word with font Times New Roman and size 12 with 1.5 line spacing.
The name, college, course and year of the person along with contact details should be
mentioned in the body of the mail with essay in word document attached in the mail.
