and want to keep in Redwood City. One of the challenges
we face is when a large, national company closes down its
stores. We saw that with Toys R’ Us and more recently with
Orchard Supply Hardware. In these cases, the City works
with commercial realtors to try to attract companies that will
produce significant sales tax revenue, but also businesses that
meet community needs. Attracting business that produce
significant sales tax revenue (like Costco) is critical in order
to keep our city financially strong.

Design Friendly Ideas For Your Pet
Although many people consider pets to be our best friends, or
even family members, the mess and clutter they bring into our
homes can be a big nuisance. Between toys, food bowls, hair, and
paw prints, their presence can often overwhelm our homes and
our sanity. Believe it or not, many of these pet problems can be
solved by design to ensure you and your pet continue happily
cohabitating. Read on for some cool pet renovation ideas to
consider when remodeling.
1. Built-in dog beds and crates.
If you want your dog to have a comfortable place to sleep, but
in an area that’s not underfoot or obtrusive, consider a built-in
dog bed. Built-in dog beds can be customized to match your
decor and can be placed in an area that would otherwise be
wasted space, such as under the stairs. Laundry and mud rooms
are great locations for built-in dog beds because they typically
have tiled floors which can be easily cleaned. A built-in feeding station can be hidden away after meal time!

Lilting Melodies,
Dew Water,
BBQ Nirvana
by Harvey Radin
Why is it that on Spring mornings you hear birds singing
lilting, melodic notes, but only for a relatively brief time? By
late Spring and early Summer, the sounds are changing, with
more crow and heron sounds. You’d think Spring bird melodies
would last longer. I was wondering about that and so I asked
my neighbors who have studied many species of birds.
Robins visit the Shores in Spring. ey’re making those lilting
sounds when, shall we say, they’re feeling romantic. And here’s
something else really interesting. Mockingbirds are here around
the same time, and they mimic other birds. So as Robins are
singing their songs, Mockingbirds are right there with them,

I’ve read books and listened to top chefs on TV. Everyone tells

everything from hot to cooler spots on the grill, strategically
