Deputy Under Investigation After Planting Drugs

A Jackson County Sheriff's Office Deputy is out of a job for allegedly setting people up.
Zach Wester is accused of planting drugs on people during traffic stops.
News 13 first reported on this case on September 10th, after the State Attorney's Office

"The video has to do with a motor vehicle stop and the search of a vehicle after the stop
and the things I saw in the video caused me some concern about his professionalism," said

HEALTH OFFICIALS ISSUE RABIES ALERT
FOURTH FOX TESTS POSITIVE
The Florida Department of Health in Walton County (DOH-Walton) received
confirmation of a fourth fox that has tested positive for rabies. The location of the four
foxes were, two in the Windswept area of Freeport and two in North Walton.
Therefore, the rabies alert will be extended for another 60 days.
All residents and visitors in Walton County should be aware that rabies is present in the
wild animal population and domestic animals are at risk if not vaccinated. The public is
asked to maintain a heightened awareness that rabies is active in Walton County. Alerts
are designed to increase awareness to the public.
Please be aware that rabies activities can also occur outside the alert area.
An animal with rabies could infect domestic animals that have not been vaccinated
against rabies. All domestic animals should be vaccinated against rabies and all wildlife
contact should be avoided, particularly raccoons, bats, foxes, skunks, otters, bobcats,
and coyotes. Rabies is a disease of the nervous system and is fatal to warm blooded
animals and humans. The only treatment for human exposure to rabies is rabies specific
immune globulin and rabies immunization. Appropriate treatment started soon after the
exposure will protect an exposed person from the disease.
Residents and visitors are advised to take the following precautions:
Keep rabies vaccinations up to date for all pets and at-risk livestock.
Do not allow your pets to run free. Follow leash laws by keeping pets and livestock
secured on your property. If your pet or livestock are bitten by a wild animal, seek
veterinary assistance for the animal immediately and contact Walton Animal Services at
850-892-8682.
Support animal control in efforts to reduce feral and stray animal populations.
Spay or neuter your pets to help reduce the number of unwanted pets that may not be
properly cared for or regularly vaccinated.
Do not handle, feed, or unintentionally attract wild animals with outdoor food sources
such as uncovered trash or litter.
Never adopt wild animals or bring them into your home.
Teach children never to handle unfamiliar animals, wild or domestic, even if they
appear friendly.
Prevent bats from entering living quarters or occupied spaces in homes, churches,
schools, and other similar areas, where they might come in contact with people and pets.
Persons who have been bitten or scratched by wild or domestic animals should seek
medical attention and report the injury to the DOH- Walton at 850-892-8021.

Special Bananas sent to Prison FBI's Kavanaugh investigation may
Authorities say bananas donated to a Texas prison
turned out to have nearly $18 million worth of
cocaine hidden inside the boxes.
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice says in a
Facebook post that the drugs were found in two
pallets of bananas that were donated because they
were already ripe. The donation arrived Friday.
The department says sergeants who picked up the
boxes found a bundle of a white powdery substance
under the bananas. U.S. customs officials were
called to the scene, and authorities say 540 packages
of cocaine were found in 45 boxes of bananas.
The department says federal officials and the U.S.
Customs and Border Protection are investigating.

If the FBI's report is indeed delivered to the White House
on Wednesday, Fox News expects a vote on Kavanaugh's
confirmation could come as soon as Saturday. Senate
Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., must first
satisfy a number of procedural and parliamentary hurdles
before a vote can be held, including filing a cloture
petition (which must remain pending for a full day) in
order to formally end debate on Kavanaugh's nomination.
McConnell has vowed to hold a vote by the end of the
week.
Republicans command a narrow 51-49 majority in the
Senate, giving them little margin for error. Numerous key
swing-vote senators, including West Virginia Democrat
Joe Manchin, Maine Republican Susan Collins, and
Alaska Republican Lisa Murkowski, have said they will
withhold judgment on Kavanaugh pending the results of
the FBI's supplemental background investigation.
The FBI's conclusions have been hotly anticipated since
Friday, when Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., insisted on an
additional review by the agency in a dramatic Judiciary
Committee hearing. Top Democrats had demanded the FBI
interview more than two dozen witnesses as part of the
investigation, saying a time-limited, narrow probe -- which
Flake had requested -- would lack legitimacy.
"If you listen carefully, Mr. President, you can practically
hear the sounds of the Democrats moving the goalposts,"
McConnell said. He added later: "Their goalposts keep
shifting. But their goal hasn't moved an inch. Not an inch.
"Do these actions suggest this has ever been about finding
the truth?" McConnell asked. "Anybody believe that?"
The uncorroborated sexual misconduct allegations
against Kavanaugh have faltered in recent days, as the
credibility of his three most prominent accusers --
Christine Blasey Ford, Deborah Ramirez and Julie
Swetnick -- has come under question. Democrats in-
creasingly have focused their arguments on Kavanaugh's
temperament during Thursday's hearing, as well as
whether he lied under oath about references in his high
school yearbook.
Kavanaugh also acknowleged sometimes having "too
many" beers in high school and college, and some
Democrats have suggested he lied by not going further
and admitting that he had "blacked out." There is nothing
that can be supported by anyone who knew him.

Greetings from the Mayor’s Office….
A new project called The Preserve was
presented to the council at the last meeting
and will be located just north of Hwy 20 and Hwy 331
and will consist of Single-Family Dwellings, Apartments,
Townhouses and a 100 room Hotel, it will also have
commercial space available for the community and will
certainly become an asset for Freeport.
Two other presentations were presented for a new
subdivision in Hammock Bay named SweetWater and
construction will begin soon on this development and on
Business Hwy 331 another project Oakfield Estates will
begin construction soon. We are currently working on
Affordable Housing for our area as well and will keep
you posted as we move forward.
We had the Groundbreaking for the new McDonalds this
past week and look forward to them joining our
community the target date for opening is Dec 1. Also,
recently the new Ace Hardware opened its doors, please
drop buy and check them out and welcome them to the
community. The contractor for the new Splash Pad at the
Sports Complex has been awarded and this project should
begin in the very near future. The council voted to move
forward on all projects that the city received grants for, so
we will certainly see a lot of new improvements about to
begin.
The 6th annual Mayor’s Charity Ball (it’s as formal as you
want to be ) is going to be held on October 20, 2018, at
the Lake Club- Hammock Bay beginning at 7:00, I would
like to urge you to attend this fun event, tickets are
available at city hall - proceeds from the silent auction
help provide the less fortunate families with holiday
meals and gifts for their children.
The 5th annual “Bayfest” will take place on October 27th
at the Freeport Regional Sports Complex beginning at
10:00, Art/Craft Vendors and Food Vendors, Kids Zone,

I can hear all of you now, this is not supposed to be a political column, but an inspirational,
spiritual column. Hang on, I’m getting there.
My teachers encouraged involvement, and if it wasn’t for the candidate of their choice, they
were still proud that we were voting and working to make the country what we wanted it to
be. I loved politics and was heavily involved in any election wherever I lived from that
moment on.
After a bunch of life changes and bumps in the road for my family and me, I decided to follow
Jesus Christ instead of politics. I still vote but make my decisions based on what I believe God
would want me to do, from my heart and following His word as best I can.
What I refuse to be any part of is anger. If you’re angry and you’re telling me who to vote for,
I will not take anything you say into consideration. I don’t think that God wants me to listen to
or be influenced by anger. I will also never judge or condemn you for voting or supporting an
issue or a candidate that’s not my choice.
I don’t vote Democrat or Republican. I’m a card-carrying registered member of “The Jesus
Party.”

My name is Rick Stanfield and I write a motivational/spiritual columns
that is currently published in The Walton Sun, Destin Log, Northwest Daily
News, DeFuniak Springs Herald, and several newspapers throughout
Missouri. I would love for my faith-based weekly article to find a home in your publication!
I just finished a book, “I Can and I Will”, that chronicles my family’s journey through losing
everything we had and even sleeping in a car for ten days after our home was foreclosed
on. Since then, we’ve found happiness and success through God, hard work, and dedication.
We created a bakery, Sweet Henrietta’s, that was featured on the Today Show and was an
extremely successful business that we sold in December of last year. I have since graduated
law school, and we get excited about telling others that any situation can be worked out of
through God and hard work. We are currently setting up a scheduled small book tour across
the southern United States where we share our story with those who may need a little
motivation. We’ve been speaking at churches, benefits, book signings, and pretty much
anywhere they’ll let us talk and share our testimony.
BEAUTY
My granddaughter Emmilou was born five years ago and weighed 2 pounds, 6 ounces. I look
back at pictures and see how tiny, frail, and some would even say sick, she looked.
One family member saw a picture and immediately started crying. I remember seeing her, and
all I saw was a beautiful little girl. I didn’t see the 2-pound baby that everyone else was
seeing. I saw beauty.
Since then, I see beauty everywhere. I take a deeper look at everyone I encounter. I know that
God didn’t put this person in front of me to judge or hinder, but rather to help.
I was eating at a restaurant a few weeks ago and the waitress was horrible. She didn’t refill
my drink. She took my order incorrectly and blamed me when I told her. She was this way
with every person she encountered. She had a picture pinned to her uniform of a little boy that
was probably six years old wearing a baseball uniform.
Now, while everyone else was seeing her as a rude waitress who hated her job, I chose to see
her as a caring mother, down on her luck, but was still working to take care of her child. I saw
a lady doing her best to get out of a difficult situation and make sure her son got to baseball
practice and played his game in a clean uniform. I chose to see the beauty of her situation.
I tipped her $10 and she looked confused. She told me that nobody had ever given her a $10
tip before and I told her she deserved it. I think you'll agree.
Look deeply, you’ll see the beauty in everyone. Live Happy!

details about our news makers, but none of us know one single humanizing fact about

The difference between legal and illegal. This is something everyone in America
should read. It looks like we did some good after all!
On Saturday, July 24th, 2010 the town of Prescott Valley, AZ, hosted a Freedom Rally. Quang Nguyen was
asked to speak on his experience of coming to America and what it means. He spoke the following in
dedication to all Vietnam Veterans. I thought you might enjoy hearing what he had to say:
35 years ago, if you were to tell me that I am going to stand up here speaking to a couple thousand patriots, in
English, I'd laugh at you. Man, every morning I wake up thanking God for putting me and my family in the
greatest country on earth. I just want you all to know that the American dream does exist and I am living the
American dream.
I was asked to speak to you about my experience as a first generation Vietnamese-American, but I'd rather
speak to you as an American. If you hadn’t noticed, I am not white and I feel pretty comfortable with my
people. I am a proud U.S citizen and here is my proof. It took me 8 years to get it, waiting in endless lines, but
I got it, and I am very proud of it. I still remember the images of the Tet offensive in 1968, I was six years old.
Now you might want to question how a 6-year-old boy could remember anything. Trust me, those images can
never be erased. I can't even imagine what it was like for young American soldiers, 10,000 miles away from
home, fighting on my behalf.
35 years ago, I left South Vietnam for political asylum. The war had ended. At the age of 13, I left with the
understanding that I may or may not ever get to see my siblings or parents again. I was one of the first lucky
100,000 Vietnamese allowed to come to the U.S. Somehow, my family and I were reunited 5 months later,
amazingly, in California. It was a miracle from God.
If you haven't heard lately that this is the greatest country on earth, I am telling you that right now. It was the
freedom and the opportunities presented to me that put me here with all of you tonight. I also remember the
barriers that I had to overcome every step of the way. My high school counselor told me that I cannot make it
to college due to my poor communication skills. I proved him wrong. I finished college. You see, all you have
to do is to give this little boy an opportunity and encourage him to take and run with it. Well, I took the
opportunity and here I am. This person standing tonight in front of you could not exist under a socialist/
communist environment. By the way, if you think socialism is the way to go, I am sure many people here will
chip in to get you a one-way ticket out of here. And if you didn't know, the only difference between socialism
and communism is an AK-47 aimed at your head. That was my experience.
In 1982, I stood with a thousand new immigrants, reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and listening to the
National Anthem for the first time as an American. To this day, I can't remember anything sweeter and more
patriotic than that moment in my life.
Fast forwarding, somehow I finished high school, finished college, and like any other goofball 21 year old
kid, I was having a great time with my life I had a nice job and a nice apartment in Southern California.
In some way and somehow, I had forgotten how I got here and why I was here.
One day I was at a gas station, I saw a veteran pumping gas on the other side of the island. I don't know what
made me do it, but I walked over and asked if he had served in Vietnam. He smiled and said yes. I shook and
held his hand. This grown man's eyes began to well up. I walked away as fast as I could and at that very
moment, I was emotionally rocked. This was a profound moment in my life. I knew something had to change
in my life. It was time for me to learn how to be a good citizen. It was time for me to give back.
You see, America is not just a place on the map, it isn't just a physical location. It is an ideal, a concept. And
if you are an American, you must understand the concept, you must accept this concept, and most
importantly, you have to fight and defend this concept. This is about Freedom and not free stuff. .And that is
why I am standing up here.
Brothers and sisters, to be a real American, the very least you must do is to learn English and understand it
well. In my humble opinion, you cannot be a faithful patriotic citizen if you can't speak the language of the
country you live in. Take this document of 46 pages
- last I looked on the Internet, there wasn't a
Vietnamese translation of the U.S. Constitution. It
took me a long time to get to the point of being able
to converse and until this day, I still struggle to
come up with the right words. It's not easy, but if
it's too easy, it's not worth doing.
Before I knew this 46-page document, I learned of
the 500,000 Americans who fought for this little
boy.
I learned of the 58,000 names inscribed on the
black wall at the Vietnam Memorial. You are my
heroes.
You are my founders.

Boshamps Presents 3rd Annual Swordy Shootout

The Offshore Fishing Tournament Offers Two Grand
Prizes of $10,000
The 2018 Swordy Shootout is Boshamps Seafood and Oyster House's 3rd annual
offshore fishing tournament featuring the saltiest and most skilled captains and crews
of the Gulf of Mexico going head to head on some of the biggest and toughest creatures
that swim these waters.
The two heavyweights in the 2018 Swordy Shootout are the elusive and sneaky White
Marlin and the deep dwelling sea monster, the Swordfish. There will be a guaranteed
prize of $10,000 a piece for the largest Swordfish and the largest White Marlin brought
to the scales Saturday night.
There are also eight Calcutta betting categories for Swordfish, Aggregate Swordfish,
White Marlin, Tuna, Wahoo, and Mahi Mahi as well as a "Tag and Release"
category. After the mandatory captains' meeting on Thursday evening, teams will leave
their port of call from any location in the Gulf of Mexico with fishing starting at 5:00
am on Friday morning. Fishing will continue through Friday night until Saturday after-
noon, with as much time as needed to get back to the dock by the 9:00 pm deadline to
weigh their catch. Along with Live Music and the beautiful setting at Boshamps, the
weigh ins should be a fun event for fisherman and spectators alike.
Both previous years have featured Swordfish up to almost 340 lbs and plenty of other
giant Pelagic fish to see, touch and take pictures with. Sponsored by Boshamps Seafood
and Oyster House and Lucky Dog Seafood Company, this event, like all others at
Boshamps, will be sure to live up to the hype and be fun for everyone.

YOU DID THIS!.... BUT…..
I don’t know who’s house it happened at or even what
year it happened. I don’t know if I got there before
everyone else or after. I don’t know how I got there or
how I got home over 8 miles away (at the age of 15).
My life time friend doesn’t remember any of this
(and the other 3 people I said were there testified
under oath they don’t know anything about this).
I have a fear of flying , but have no problem
jet-setting all over the world while on vacation. I’ve
been on airplanes more in the past two months than
most people in a year, but my fear is completely legit.
I don’t know who paid for my hotel and polygraph
test( the afternoon of my grandmothers funeral, or
maybe it was the next day, who knows).
And guess what? I flew there. Oh and that polygraph,
it was only two questions, neither of which were about
Kavanaugh. But hey, I passed so that’s all that
matters. And my PhD in psychology definitely, in no
way, helped me with it or my testimony today.
My friends on the beach encouraged me to continue
contacting the media with my story (because we were
running out of time). I can’t name them, so we’ll just
call them beach friends.
Yet while giving such great advice, none were willing
to be character witnesses.
