The Processing Advantage
The Model R-120 Extruder-Dryer gives you
predictable process control and mechanical
reliability. Machine components are engineered
for minimal wear and easy maintenance.
1. The Main Drive That’s Best For You
The R-120 can be supplied with your preference
of a standard single-speed motor with Gyrol fluid
drive or variable speed motor.
2. Heavy-Duty Gear Box
Ground tooth, hardened, Class 10 helical gears
with crown and tip relief for maximum strength,
efficiency and quiet operation. Gears have a 2.0
service factor. All bearings have a minimum L10
life of 100,000 hours for long-lasting service.
Gearbox equipped with forced lubrication
system. Includes built-in dual basket 100-mesh
strainer, pump and oil cooler. Oversized thrust
bearing for heavy-duty service handles the most
challenging conditions.
3. 316L Feed Hopper
Precision cast CF3M construction (316L).
Designed to accept feed material, the feed
hopper also acts as a connection between
the gearbox and main barrel. This provides
mechanical efficiency and stability to absorb and
transmit thrust loads while supporting the main
barrel. Wedgewire feed hopper bottom allows
easy drainage of free moisture from dewatering
machine feed.
4. Segmented Main Barrel
The R-120 features three barrel segments with
wear bushings. Extruder-type barrel segments
designed with corrosion and wear-resistant lining

to increase barrel life. Flanged barrel ends with
mating dowels allow perfect alignment.
Other features include:
• Barrel segments and bushings identical
in design. Interchangeable for ease of
replacement.
• Breaker pins extend into the machine to
improve material flow.
• Bushing area to support main shaft. Inner
diameter hardcoated with Colmonoy #69 for
wear resistance. Rockwell C60 hardness.
Designed to wear before bearing worm.
• Rotating worm inside bushing area hard-
coated with Colmonoy #72 for long life.
5. Long-Lasting Main Drive Shaft
Constructed of high-strength 17-4 PH stainless
steel. Keyed into hollow, low-speed gearbox
shaft. Flight segments fit onto shaft, held in
place by keyway. Worm flights, rotated at 45°
from previous worm, distribute flight opening
over 360°. This balances side loading when
flight openings are in line.
6. Die Plate
Constructed of 316 stainless steel. Precision
drilled to accept die button inserts. Inserts are
available in a wide configuration of hole sizes.
7. Heavy-Duty Support Base
Heavy-duty fabricated base provides integral
support and allows easy instillation.
