Introduction
The KCGG and KCGU range of
relays provide nondirectional
overcurrent protection for phase and
‘earth faults. As port of he KRange of
relays, the KCGG/KCGU can be
integrated into an overall protection
‘ond control system by uflising its
integral serial communications control
‘and recording cilities, thereby
providing information to assist wth
circuit breaker maintenance and the
day to day management of power
systems

The KCGG/KCGU 100 series
single auxiliory powered models
derive power from either ac or de
couxiliory supplies.
The KCGG/KCGU 200 series dual
powered models con be powered
from either ac or de auxiliary
supplies or from the CT circuit.
Thus even in the event of the loss of
‘uxiliory supply, tripping functions
will remain operational

Application
The KCGG/KCGU relay's enhanced
protection and ancillary features such
(0 programmable input and output
elements are advantageous in many
cepplications, ofering « more
sophisticated solution tothe protection
problems ossociated with industial
power and distribution systems.
The relays ore used where time
graded overcurrent and earth fault
protection is required. Where there is
«a possibilty of high resistance earth
faults occurring, the KCGU relay with
sensitive earth fault protection con be
copplied
‘Three independent overcurrent stages
per pole are available:
~ Stage 1 provides ony of seven
inverse time or definite time
characteristics and on adjustable
reso! timer for the detection of
infermitent fouls.
~ Stages 2 and 3 provide
definite tie setings which may be
set fo 2er0 for instantaneous
operation. These con be used os
low or high ses.
The independently programmable
characteristics for each measuring
clement and timer simplifies co
‘ordination and any modification
which may arise from system
reconfiguration
Inbuit Features include circuit breaker
foilure protection, cold load pickup
feciltios and blocked overcurrent
protection. A contact can be
configuted to operate when the relay
seting current is exceeded, This may
be used to send a blocking signal to

This element has a reset timer that con
bee adjusted from 0s to 60 to assist

provides sensitive earth Fault

may be configured to provide
transformer restricted earth fault
protection.
