THE COMMANDMENTS OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD,

THE MESSENGER OF ALLAH (PEACE AND MERCY

OF ALLAH BE UPON HIM).
Sh. Saeed Al Qahtani

“And obey Allah and His Messenger [Muhammad peace and mercy of
Allah be upon him] that you may obtain Mercy.”
Qur’an 3: 132
The Prophet Muhammad (peace and mercy of Allah be upon him) said to his
companions: ‘who would take these words from me and abide by these words
(rules, commandments) or at least, teach it to others.’ The Prophet (peace and
mercy of Allah be upon him) did not force people to accept the Words of Allah
rather he would present them with a choice to accept or decline. And Abu
Hurairah
(may Allah be pleased with him) one of the closest companions of the Prophet
(peace and mercy of Allah be upon him) accepted these words.
These words were the commandments which Allah commanded upon His
slaves.

The Commandments:

• Follow the Qur’an and sunnah (the ways of the Prophet may the peace and
mercy of Allah be upon him) for it will prevent you from being led astray.

• Be aware of every haraam (forbidden act in the Islamic legislations) in

order to increase your obedience and sincerity to Allah S.W.T.

• Be content with what Allah has provided for you (your property, business,
qualities and skills etc) for it is better for you; And know that if Allah provides
you with knowledge of the religion that is a sure sign of His Mercy and Love
upon you and that is the best possession that any slave of Allah may receive
from Him S.W.T. Also keep in mind that Allah tests His slaves to determine
the righteous among the rebellious (not for His S.W.T sake but for the sake of our
ownselves as evidence for the Day of Judgement).

• Be good to your neighbours as it is part of Islamic etiquettes. It also

encourages others to uphold the good and forbid the evil and it helps
develop a Muslim community where there is peace and purity and in which
good manners are prevalent.

• Love for others what you love for yourself. This encourages charitable acts
as well as mercy, love and care towards our brothers and sisters in Islam
for the sake of pleasing Allah.

• Do not laugh too much for it leads you far from the remembrance of Allah
S.W.T and it weakens the heart from being submissive to Allah S.W.T. The
Prophet (peace and mercy of Allah be upon him) used to smile more than
laugh.

The outcome:

When you adhere to the commandments of Allah only to gain His S.W.T
Pleasure He S.W.T will enrich your life in ways that did not even occur to you.
Even more so, it establishes a connection with Allah S.W.T in which He will
establish His Mercy and His Compassion towards you; and that means to be
protected and safe guarded by The All-Mighty Allah, to be nourished and
supported
by The All Mighty Allah and there is none that is even remotely close to satisfy
you
the way that Allah S.W.T is able.

“And He will provide him from [sources] he never could imagine. And whosoever
puts his trust in Allah then He will suffice him. Verily Allah will accomplish his
purpose. Indeed Allah has set a measure for all things.”
Qur’an 65: 3

And Allah says in His Glorious Qur’an: “whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger
[Muhammad peace and mercy of Allah be upon him] will be admitted to Gardens
under which rivers flow [in Paradise] to abide therein, and that will be the great
success”.
Qur’an 4: 13
