The Nordic Development Fund (NDF) is a multilateral development finance institution

established in 1989 by the Nordic countries – Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and
Sweden. NDF provides financing to climate change projects in low-income countries in co-
operation with multilateral development banks and other institutions. NDF’s office is

NDF is seeking a
MANAGING DIRECTOR

The main responsibility of the Managing Director is to provide strategic and operational
leadership in shaping NDF’s future strategic role, value proposition and orientation within
the Nordic and wider international development and climate finance architecture. The
Managing Director will also lead and supervise NDF staff in their daily tasks of identifying,
developing and implementing operations addressing climate change and development
challenges, including cross-sectoral linkages to the sustainable development goals, as well
as the financial, administrative and personnel management of the Fund. Furthermore, the
Managing Director will be responsible for reporting, outreach activities and external
stakeholder relations, including profiling of NDF in relevant international and Nordic fora as
well as presenting its work in meetings and conferences.

The Managing Director reports to NDF’s Board of Directors.

NDF offers a demanding and challenging job in an international organisation based in


Helsinki, working with development and climate change, with an attractive remuneration
package and the chance to make an important contribution to the development of a more
sustainable future. The position requires a fair amount of travelling. NDF offers a 4-year
contract with the possibility of extension for a second term. The term of office for the
current Managing Director will end on 31 October 2018, so it is expected that the new
Managing Director will take up the positions as soon as possible after that date.
