Installation of Crimper Couplers

1. Purpose And Scope of Works

To set out the process for inspection and testing procedure and maintaining records for
mechanical splicing system by G TECH CRIMPER couplers.

2. Procedure
Inspection and testing process for mechanical splicing system by the CRIMPER coupler
comprise of the following three areas.

Area 1: Application of pressure by Hydraulic Jack on G TECH CRIMPER COUPLER

and Reinforcement Bar

The reinforcement bar yard engineer shall check sleeve (CRIMPER coupler) and
configuration every 100 numbers for the pressure applied and recorded.

Step 1. The coupler bar FIXING will be checked by site engineer and verified by QA/QC

Step 2. Site engineer will check once again the FIXING of all the joints if any one the
coupler joint found loose and request for verification.

METHOD STATEMENT FOR INSTALATION

1. PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF WORKS

This method statement describes the process for mechanical splicing system by G TECH
on reinforcement for G TECH CRIMPER couplers.

2. MATERIAL
Rebar size as per requirement.

3. TOOLS & PLANT

HYDRAULIC-POWER PACK.……………………..…… 1 Nos.
HYDRAULIC JACK……………………………………… 1 Nos.
G TECH Crimper Couplers .………………….………... As required

4. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
The couplers will be supplied by G TECH. The rebar of specified length with square cut is
to be placed on the rebar with the square cut so that they match near perfection on to their
faces. The coupled bar is crimped after inserting the top rebar by means of a jack giving
sufficient pressure seven times on the top and bottom of the bargrip coupler alternatively.

Crimping of Reinforcement Bar with G Tech Crimper coupler

Workers will place the reinforcement bars onto top reinforcement bar with square cuts.
They will hold the bars straight or if required scaffolding would be required for this. The
machine operator will then start the crimping work.

5. QUALITY ASSURANCE
The work of Crimping of coupled rebars will be inspected and tested in accordance with
Inspection and Test Procedure ITP-02.

6. SAFETY MEASURE
Pre-work briefing will be given to all workers engaged in the works. All persons engaged in
work will be provided with and wear safety helmet, safety foot wear and gloves at all times.
