Freeway Super Low PIM Jumper Cables

Based on Hughes Ultra Low PIM ‘WaveWay™’ Connector series the ‘FreeWay’ is a Super
Low PIM series of jumper leads designed for use in cellular applica ons.
FreeWay jumper cables are conferred with all the benefits of the WaveWay™ series of
connectors, they create a step-change in jumper lead efficiency.
42% of PIM is caused by tradi onal jumper leads and 90% of all those problems spring
form signal transi on points between cable and connector interfaces. These problems
significantly decrease Signal to Noise Ra o and effec ve transmission rates.
FreeWay jumper cables provide a clean, non suscep ble, ultra-low resistance signal path
designed to help increase effec ve data rates.
FreeWay jumper cables can be supplied factory configured or in a site configurable kit

Accurate Impedance / Low Loss

Hughes accurate frequency profiling techniques provide the Uni-Fit Pro with

Uni-Fit Pro connectors are electro-plated with Hughes resilient tri-metal coa ng
to provide resistance to PIM sources such as corrosion and abrasions, they are
supplied with Hughes specially designed mul ple choice o-rings and sealing
lubricant to aid assembly and form an IP rated water ght bond with just about
any form of 7/8th feeder cable.

4.3/10 Connectors
Hughes 4.3/10 connector is developed especially to meet the challenges of limited
space on cellular equipment interfaces. Developed at our centre of excellence (also
responsible for the WaveWay connector) Hughes 4.3/10 connectors benefit from
years of PIM related research and incorporate separated axial plane coupling to
assist in delimited signal transit.
Recommended for 50 Ohm applica ons @ -65° to 85° and up to 12Ghz Hughes
4.3/10 connecters are low in weight, space saving and require only 5 Nm of torque
for op mum coupling. 4.3/10 connectors can be made available with screw, low
torque screw and push-pull plug coupling nuts, which all benefit from
interconnec vity to the 4.3/10 jack.

Jumper cables can contribute up to 42.5% of PIM (source; kaelus) in cellular transmission channels. Much of this PIM is
caused by ill-fi ng connec on surfaces that generate capaci ve couplings distor ons and harmonics. Poorly soldered
contact points can crack during temperature cycling producing similar results and in the worst cases fail, poor electropla ng

Hughes 43.10 Jumper cables are manufactured to the same exac ng standards as our 7/16
Jumpers cables but with the smaller IEC 61169-54.standard interface to support space
reduc on at the Remote Radio Unit (RRU) and Antennae head. The smaller coupling
mechanisms make Hughes 4.3/10 jumper cables ideal candidates for base sta ons where
space is at a premium , Distributed Antennae Systems (DAS) and small cell applica ons.

Hughes have improved their dual balun offering to include front and rear
bulkhead moun ng. The new versa le design, a beau fully compact balun
coverts 75ohm unbalanced coaxial signal to 120 ohm balanced twisted pairs.

Hughes break-over torque wrenches are designed to minimise impairment to connec ons by ensuring accurate ma ng forces are
delivered to transi on points when ma ng RF coaxial connectors.
The unique break-over feature triggers free movement through a 10 degree non-torqueing arc, at the axis of the tool movement to
indicate to that desired torque has been reached and assure users of a first class connec on free of over torque damage.
