Assessment and awareness of lifestyle behaviors and their effect on the adult will be stressed. Challenges to health will be explored
using the Nursing Process. Skills that are essential to health promotion or health assessment will be integrated throughout the
course. These skills will be applied in a laboratory practicum, hospital and nursing home. Emphasis will be placed on the role of the
RN in the caring environment

1. Understand the importance of using nursing judgment when providing care to promote optimal health for clients with respect to
culture, beliefs, and values.
2a. Recognize the importance of the nursing process to provide safe, quality care for clients with biological, psycho-social-spiritual
needs.

3. Create a teaching-learning plan based on the learning needs of the client.
4. Describe the role of communication in a caring and therapeutic environment for clients, with an emphasis on effective
