I was born in Jogjakarta, on September 5th 2002. So, I am 15 years old. My family and
I live at Soedirman street number 7, Lenteng Agung Jogja. I have two brothers and a
sister, my father is a Dentist and my mother is an airport staff.

My hobbies are listening to music, travelling, and playing football. I think that’s all
about my family, and thanks for your attention.

Commonly “this” and “that” are used to introducing someone

The different in using:

 This: is singular thing(tunggal)


The person or the thing near by us that we can touch
 That: is singular too ( tunggal)
The person or thing little bit far from us, which we can point by fingers.

II. Addressing terms in English

When someone wants to book or buy a ticket usually attach the gender.
1. Mr. is used to address ( refers to) a man.
(formal used to show respect usually is followed by the last name of that
person)
E.g. Mr. Zacharias Henry
2. Mrs. Is used to address a woman, (a married woman) usually is followed
by last name of that person. E.g. Mrs. Manafe Erna
3. Miss is used to address a young woman(single/ who is not married yet).
Usually is followed by the first name of that person.E.g. Miss Mary, Miss Lia
5. 4. Madam is used to address an old woman above 50 years old.
E.g. Madam Claire, Madam Delia.

III. PHYSICAL APPEARANCE


How to describe people
Here some ways to describe Hair, Face, Nose and Body

HAIR:

 Long Hair : Rambut panjang


 Short Hair : Rambut Pendek
 Curly Hair : Rambut keriting
 Straight Hair : Rambut lurus
 Wavy Hair : Rambut Gelomang

FACE:
 Round Face : wajah/muka bulat
 Oval face : wajah/muka oval
 Square face : wajah/ muka kotak

EYES:
 Black eyes :mata hitam
 Brown eyes : mata coklat
 Blue eyes : mata biru
 Slated eyes : mata sipit

NOSE:

 Flat Nose : Hidung pesek


 Sharp/Pointed nose : Hidung mancung

Body:

 Short : pendek
 Tall : Tinggi
 Fat : gemuk
 Thin : kurus

Example : Ben is tall, he is good looking with his new hair style, he has brown
eyes with pointed nose and white skin.

Task II

One of the student stand in front of the class while the others try to describe physical
appearance of the student. ( seorang siswa berdiri di depan celas sementara yang

IV. RESERVATION AND TICKETING
Reservation and Ticketing is dealing with the reservation of the passengers before
boarding with an airplane.

Example:

1. When somebody wants to book or buy a ticket

A: Good Morning, I would like to book a Ticket

B: Yes, Sir. May I have your ID Cart?

A: Yes, Sure

B: Where you would like to go Sir?

A: I want a ticket to Surabaya, tomorrow morning

B: we have Sriwijaya and Garuda Indonesia Airlines for tomorrow flight Sir

A: how much is the price?

B: a ticket for Sriwijaya Is Rp.800.000 while Garuda is 900.000 Sir.

A: okay, I will take Garuda Airline.

B: would you like to seat near the window or rear seat, Sir?

A: window seat

B: okay Sir, you should pay extra charge Rp. 50.000

A: okay it’s fine

B: that will be all Rp. 950.000 for your ticket

A: okay here the money

B: thank you here your ticket Sir, have a nice trip

A: thanks

2. When a passenger want to check in at the airport.


Officer : Good Morning, may I see your ticket please?
Passenger : yes, please
Officer : may I see your ID Cart Sir/ Mrs/Miss/Madam
Passenger : yes, here it is
Officer : do you have baggage? Please put on the scale
Passenger : okay
Officer : ok, this is your boarding pass and your ticket.
Have a nice flight.
Passenger : thank you

3. Going through security


When metal detector detect any metal items.

Security : Good morning Sir, please put your bag on the conveyor and
also put your mobile phone and all electronic device in the
basket/bin.
Passenger : Do I need to take my laptop out from my bag?
Security : yes, you do, please take off your jacket too. (Rianto walks
through the metal detector)

Security : step back please, do you have anything on you pocket?


Any keys or cell phone? Because the metal ditector detect any
metal items.
Passenger : I don’t think so, I think it’s my belt. Let me take it off

Security : okay, now you are free to go.


Passenger : thank you.

4. Abroad passenger wants to check- in


W: where are you flying today?
Y: I am going to Australia
W: can I see your ticket and your passport please?
Y: sure, here you are
W: thank you, Mr. Ryanto are you checking any bag?
Y: just one bag
W: okay, please put your bag on the scale. Would you like a window or a aisle
seat?
Y: window seat please.
W: ok, this is your seat number is 15 D and the departure gate is 5. It will begin
boarding at 9: 15 a.m.
Y: thank you for your help
W: you’re welcome, Sir.

5. When a tourist want to go to abroad.


At the immigration
Officer : may I see your passport please?
Passenger : here you are
Officer : how long are you staying in Australia?
Passenger : I will stay here for two weeks
Officer : what is the purpose of your visit?
Passenger : I am a tourist, I come here to spent my holiday
Officer : here you are and welcome to Australia
Passenger : thank you very much.

6. At the check- in officer when a passenger is overweight of baggage’s.


Officer : Good Afternoon Mrs., where are you flying today?
Mrs. Brown : Good afternoon, I am going to Jakarta
Officer : may I have your ticket and passport please?
Mrs. Brown : sure
Officer : thank you Mrs. Brown, how many pieces of your
baggage that you will be check- in
Mrs. Brown : Three bags and also I have one carry-on bag with me

Officer : all right Mrs., please put your baggage on the scale,
while on the scale evidently the baggage is overweight 24
kilos. Then the office said: sorry Mrs., your baggage is
overweigh you need to pay for the excess weight (
kelebihan bagasi).

Mrs. Brown : oh I see, how much do I have to pay for the excess?
Officer : you need to pay 400.000
Mrs. Brown : okay here the money.
After pay the excess she got the window seat is 20 D and departure gate 5 and
will be boarding at 10 a.m.

V. HOW TO SAY TIME

When a passenger check – in at the airport, they usually asking about boarding time.

What time is now? Or what is boarding time of my flight?.


 4:00 = it is four o’clock
 1:45 = it is a quarter to two( kurang 15 menit jam 2)
 6:15 = it is ten past six( jam 6 lewat 15 menit)
 3: 30 = it is a half past three(jam 3 lewat 30 menit)
 9:15 = it is a quarter past nine( jam 9 lewat 15 menit)
 10:00 = it is ten o’clock
 11:30 = it is a half past eleven
 5: 45 = it is a quarter past six( kurang 15 menit jam 6)

VI. SHOWING DIRECTION
After check- in passengers go to waiting room. They will go to boarding gate. Maybe
they will ask about departure gate.

Example :

A: Excuse me, can you show me where the gate 5 is?

B: yes, just go ahead, then go up the escalators to the second floor, you pass the
café and then turn left you will find it.

A: thank you for giving direction

B: welcome.

A.Vocabularies of showing direction:

= Go ahead/ go straight = jalan lurus

= Go Up = naik ke atas

= Go Down = turun kebawah

= turn right= belok kana

= turn left= belok kiri

B. preposition of place

When someone asks about a part of place that he/she can not find it .

Commonly :

 In = didalam
 On = diatas
 Under = dibawah
 Upper = diatas
 In the middle of/ in the center of = ditengah
 In front of = didepan
 In the back of = dibelakang
 In the corner = dipojok
 Next to = disamping

VII. Arrival
At the arrival gate, usually is a timetable of the arrival time. We will practice the time
table:
 The flight Number
 The arrival time
 The ramarks ( status of the plane)

Activity : practice asking the flight schedule using the time table.

VIII. ANNOUNCEMENT
At the airport usually there is an announcement.
Example :
 Please proceed to gate number 8
 Do not leave any bags unattended
 Flight JT 106 is now boarding
 Would passenger Tom Smith come to the information desk
 This is the final call for flight BA204 to new York

Pre-boarding Announcement
Good afternoon passengers. This is the pre-boarding announcement for flight 89B to
Jakarta. We are inviting now those passenger with small children and any passenger
requiring special assistance, to begin boarding at this time. Please have your
boarding pass and identification ready. Regular boarding will begin in approximately
ten minutes time. Thank you

Final boarding announcement

This is the final boarding call for passenger Erin and Fred Collins booked on flight
372A to Surabaya. Please proceed to get 3 immediately. The final checks will order
for doors of the aircraft to close in a approximately five minutes time. This is the final
boarding call for Erin and Fred Collins. Thank you.

An Announcement – Delay

Good morning. This is an announcement for all passengers travelling on the 10:30
FLIGHT jkt1322 TO Surabaya. This flight is delayed by an hour because of bad
weather. Thank you for your attention.

 Alternative Aerodrome = bandara alternative
 Apron = Tempat parker pesawat
 Aviation = institusi atau suatu lembaga penerbangan
 Boarding = naik ke pesawat
 Cabin attendant = pramugari
 Connecting flight = Pergantian pesawat atau menggunakan airlinr
lain biasanya saat transit
 Cruising = pesawat terbang datar
 Ditching = pesawat mendarat darurat di air
 Dangerous good = barang – barang yang termasuk daftar
membahayakan keselamatan penumpang
 FIR = flight information region
 Uir = upper information region
 Destination = tempat tujuan
 Force landing = pendaratan yang dilakukan diluar bandara
 Holding area = tempat pesawat menunggu di darat untuk antrian
berangkat
