Rationale:

Love is a variety of different feelings and attitudes a person showcase, from small
affections, to pleasure or liking of someone or something. It is one of the most profound
emotions known to human beings and people often seek its expression through a
romantic relationship from a compatible partner.

Romantic relationships are a major developmental milestone. These are the

expression of one’s strong romantic love with the desire to connect intimately, to
another person either of the same or the opposite sex. The ability to feel romantic love
develops in the adolescent stage

During this period, engaging with peers – including forming partners, are being
accepted by social groups where they are involved. Relationships offer teens
opportunities in pursuing positive developmental tasks and gaining more autonomy from
their parents. It is, according to the need to belong theory by which individuals have the
determination to connect with others in enduring close relationships.

Teenagers crave of an intimate relationship where love is exchanged without

restrictions. Nowadays we can see most high school students are coinciding their time
in both academic and romantic aspect. Immersing themselves in this romantic
relationship enables them to feel that someone cares for them, shows affection to them
and loves them.

The purpose of this study aims to depict the experiences of junior high school
students regarding intimate relationships that will benefit mostly the students who are
currently in a relationship with someone in any sex and to educate high school students
in general, of having romantic relationships together with maintaining school academic
performances and their social lives. It will also help parents in guiding their siblings,
currently teenagers in handling their relationships and ensuring that they maintain good
performance academically.
