Course Description This course is designed to strengthen and increase the understanding of basic algebra concepts before a student undertakes
advanced study in mathematics. The topics included algebra of the real numbers, algebraic, exponential, systems of equations and
inequalities, and, functions and graphs. This course will emphasize student preparation, critical thinking, and problem solving.

1. Differentiate numbers from numerals, and identify the properties of real numbers and simplify precedence of
grouping symbols
2. Apply the properties of real numbers and axioms of inequalities in algebraic operations and perform correctly the
fundamental operations
3. Simplify algebraic expressions using index laws and reduce algebraic fractions and radicals in lowest terms.
4. Identify linear equations, quadratic equations, inequalities and functions and perform basic operations on equations,
inequalities and functions
5. Translate mathematical statements to mathematical symbols and solve verbal problems correctly.
