It ´s well-known that today more and more people decide to move to Malta in

order to study English because of English is its official language alongside Maltese and
English courses are chipper than in the U. K. But what things should you know before
you travel to Malta?
In this article, what I want to do is discuss about a terrific experience, through
the eyes of someone who’s spent around 1 year on the island.
To start with, where could you live in Malta? I was living with a host family
because is the best way to learn and communicate to native people. But I could have
been living in a flat If I had wanted to do it because in this place, there was a huge
variety of apartments on the market.
As far as employment is concerned, I can say that basic jobs are really easy to
find especially in late spring and early summer, when many tourist establishments
expand their number of staff. I was working for an international company as Spanish
teacher.
With respect of Maltese Citizens, they are one of the nicest and kindest people
that I have met. They helped me without asking in return.
Last but not least, I would like to say that Malta has a delicious cuisine which is
influenced from Greek, Spanish and Italian food to North African. In addition, Malta
offers the gastronome an unbelievable selection of restaurants where is very likely that
you´ll enjoy a lot.
To sum up, Malta is a nice and welcoming destination for foreigners. If I were
you, I´d go in a heartbeat. What´s more, nothing ventured nothing gained.
It is well known that sports have become an everyday part of our lives. Today more and more
people decide to do sport because they think that sports have a great role in our society. On the
other hand, a wide range of people believe it may make their life easier, healthier and more
pleasant.

To start with, I would like to say that at no other time in our history have sports played such a
dominant role in daily life. For example, every day there are a lot of consume sport because of the
prevalence of the internet and television.

Secondly, from my point of view, sports have changed a lot. Now we can see sports professionals
making much money. Twenty years ago, this was improbable. Also, there are new training
methods.
Another important point is that having done a large amount of physical activities I can assure that
these offers us can make new friends and find people so it is an incredible hobby which all people
should do.
To sum up, after having weighed up the pros and cons, I strongly believe that sport has a relevant
role in our world because of the above-mentioned points. What is more, if I were you, I would do
sport every day and the more sport in education, the less disease.
Also, I do think that currently the ways in which we are doing sport or physical activities are better
than in the past. However, it does not mean doing so haphazardly because it will be very
overwhelming unless you really have a sport plan.

The aim of this report is to outline the results of a survey which was carried out to know
the types of problems of third-age people. Forty years ago,the elderly had a great value
in our society. They were considered as people of wisdom and their advice was
essential. However, today, the role of the senior citizen has changed. Therefore, I wonder
how they are treated and how to improve their health problems and social problems.
Firstly, I would like to point out that our elders are isolated. The majority of people asked
said that they had social problems. Every day, the number of old people who live alone
without any human contact increases. Unfortunately, today, children visit their parents but
only if they want to get money.
On the other hand, the older you are, the less free time you have. Nowadays our
grandparents have a lot of responsibilities such as having to pick
up their grandchildren from school.

From my point of view, this problem could be solved by finding time for themselves. As a
result they would feel more relaxed. Also, a useful suggestion would be to create a great
number of residential home because this would help them to deal with health problems.
Another important point is that elders play an important role because we have learned
hundreds and thousands of things from our own and unknown elders. They have done
their best for the future generation, helped in everything.
And last but no least, how to persuade third-age people to get more involved? They need
to feel part of our project. For example, they could work as volunteer. They are not
a burden.

To sum up, it seems that the elderly are frequently discriminated against because of their
age. As far a I am concerned, if they are self sufficient, they will be appreciated. But if
you need care, you will be neglected. It is deplorable but it is our reality because currently
children are selfish and our old people are treated as slaves.

Subject: Invitation a school trip
Dear Mr Brown,

I am writing to thank you for the kind invitation which I would be honoured to accept.

Firstly, I would like to point out that a school trip with parents has been a great
idea. Unfortunately, today, caregivers go to school but only if they want to express dissatisfaction.
In my humble opinion, parentsshould be involved in their child's education. When this occurs,
children are more likely to get better results, be happy and have more positive attitudes toward
their school. Therefore, the relationship between family and school is crucial and if I had more free
time, I'd probably go to your school more often.
Secondly, nowadays, more and more parents, decide to send their children to kindergarten earlier.
This is due to the fact that they have to work a lot of hours and we live in a stressful world
where the more you have, the more you want. However, I wonder, what is the ideal age to send
your children to a kindergarten?
Another important point is that, having worked as a teacher, I can suggest different activities. For
example, I think we should take a short walk where we might see animals and plants, we could
play guessing games or could make a gymkhana.

Finally, when I received your email, I was eating with my sister and she asked me if she and her
daughter could come with me. The WW fact is that my niece is a year old and my sister is a single
mother and she SP doesn´t have anyone who can take care of her daughter. Therefore, I am also
writing to ask if you could invite my sister and niece too.

I would really appreciate it if you could inform me as soon as possible. I look forward to hearing
from you.
Yours sincerely,
Francisco José Pérez Birlanga

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to complain about a recent experience I had on my London-Gran Canaria flight for a
number of reasons.
In the first place, I was not offered a diabetic meal in spite of the fact that I had previously ordered
it on your website. I do suffer from diabetes and I must follow a very strict diet with no sugar or
sugar substitutes. To make things worse, when I addressed one of the cabin crew members to inform
her of the situation and request an explanation, I was treated disrespectfully. Furthermore, I was
very disappointed to discover that there was no alternative meal that would suit my needs.
Whereas you claim that you work to anticipate your customers’ needs, in reality the service
provided made me feel discriminated against. I feel that I should receive a written apology on your
behalf and a full refund for my ticket would be appropriate. Should this refund not be forthcoming,
I shall have no alternative but to refer the matter to the British Tourist Board.
Yours faithfully,

- Adj and adverb: he dog sleeps quietly. The dog is absolutely quiet. /They learn
English easily. They think English is an easy language.
- Mixed conditionals; If Bell hadn’t invented the telephone, I wouldn’t have been able to
talk to my friend last night.
If I hadn´t drunk a lot, I wouldn´t have felt embarrassment or Had I known I would not have
do it./ If I had studied biology, I would be working in a laboratory. (But I didn’t study biology,
and I’m not working in a laboratory.)/ If I hadn’t drunk so much last night, I would feel better
today.
- Modals (deduction, permision, obligation, necessity...) It must be very difficult to move to
a new city where you don’t know anyone., That may be a better solution. //Only hotel
guests may use the facilities./You should/ought to finish your homework before you watch
TV. /You must/have to wear a tie. = this is necessary
- Passives: As a result, today, it could be said that nearly everyone is living in a digital
world which means computers are necessary and very important. // I think that all these
problems could have been avoided.//Architects should be hired to design parks, where
people could go for a walk or have a picnic.
- Relative clauses:he woman who works at my office is very efficient. /The book which I
read last week is very interesting. //I knew the guy whose bike you bought.
- Reported speech: direct (May I use the bathroom, please?”, the boy asked./ The boy
asked if he could usethe bathroom) /She asked me if I had bought a new car. /She, he, the
policeman asked me if she could/had/ knew
-Wish:I wish/If only I hadn’t eaten all that chocolate. I feel sick./ drunk a lot acoholI wish I
would never been born/ If only they would change their mind.
it is reasonable to assume that achieving this global target by 2030 is very likely.

- Not only... but also If.; is not only the most ethical but also the most economical solution.
/The war caused not only destruction and death but also generations of hatred between
the two communities. /Not only did she forget my birthday, but she also didn’t even
apologise for forgetting it.
- is not as easy as it seems/ it may appear at first glance./ you might think./ Relaxing is not
as easy as it looks.
- Comparative; The older we grow, the wiser we become. The sooner you get a job, the
better it will be for you./ Things are getting more and more expensive/your English will
get better and better!
