Sub: Amendment No 3 of Feb 2014 to IS 8329 :2000

Amendment No 3 of Feb 2014 to IS 8329: 2000 has been issued vide notification dated 20 Oct 2014.
The amendment, a copy of which is enclosed, is effective from 15 Jan 2015. It may please be
carefully examined to find the changes introduced through it and circulated to all licensees/
applicants for implementation with appropriate instructions. Hyderabad BO, the custodian BO for
the IS has been separately requested to examine the need to revise the STI and if required get it
revised.

IS 8329 : 2000 CENTRIFUGALLY CAST (SPUN)
DUCTILE IRON PRESSURE PIPES FOR WATER,
GAS AND SEWAGE — SPECIFICATION
(Third Revision)

(Page 3, clause 6.2.2) — Insert the following sentence at the end:

‘Welding on flanges will not be allowed on the screwed flange pipe.’

[Page 5, clause 10.1 6, Notes 1, 2 and 3 (see also Amendment No. 1)] —
Substitute the following for existing:

‘NOTE 1 The 0.2% proof stress may be measured. It shall be not less than 270 MPa when minimum
elongation after fracture A  12% for DN80 to DN1000 or A  10% for DN > 1000 and 300 MPa in
other case. For centrifugally cast pipes for DN 80 to DN 1000 and having a design minimum wall
thickness of 10 mm or greater, the minimum elongation after fracture shall be 7 percent.

(Page 5, clause 10.1.6, Note 4) — Substitute ‘Note 2’ for ‘Note 4’.

(Page 6, clause 11.2) — Insert a new clause as follows:

‘11.2.1 In case of flange pipe, the hydrostatic testing shall be done again after
flanging at specified pressure on lined and coated pipes.’
