Preface
Be Connected is an English course book designed for grade X students of senior high
school. This book is speaking supplementary materials for reinforcement purposes that
can be learned individually by the students outside the classroom. It was designed by
referring to the English curriculum in Curriculum 2013 for Senior High School and
students’ needs.

1. Subjective Pronouns
A subjective pronoun acts as the subject of a sentence. It performs the action
of the verb. Read these following examples.

Hi, my name is Hana. I have three brothers. They are Dodi, Nunu, and
Nanda. Dodi is a doctor. He checks people’s health everyday. We have the
same hobby which is singing.
2. Objective Pronouns
An objective pronoun acts as the object of a sentence. It receives the action of
the verb. Read these following examples.
3. Possessive Adjective
Possessive adjective is not a pronoun, but rather a determiner. It is useful to
learn it at the same time as pronouns because it is similar to the possessive pronouns.
Possessive adjective functions as adjective, so they appear before the noun they
modify. They don’t replace a noun as a pronoun do. Read these following examples.
My third brother is Nanda. Our birthday date is the same, June 15th.
His hobby is playing video game. Sometimes, he borrows my laptop and play
games on it.
4. Possessive Pronouns
A possessive pronoun replaces possessive noun as either the subject or the
object of the sentence. Read these following examples.
This is my family photo. The car in this picture is not ours. Ours looks
like this car but the colour is white. How about yours?

Make a complete dialogue based on one of the situations below. Write it in Microsoft
Office. Then, submit your work to Edmodo UNIT 1 – TASK 12 by attaching the file
to the comment column.
You are going to buy some food with your little sister. Coincidentally, you meet
your classmate. He is waiting for his food ready to be taken home. Introduce your
sister to him. Your sister and your friend has the same interest.
You are in a bookstore looking for a novel. Coincidentally, you meet your classmate
when you were in elementary school. She was with her cousin. You have met her
cousin before but you have not known her name. She helped you when you were
accidently drop your book in the public library.
You and your friend are going to a museum. You need to make a report about the
things displayed in the museum. Your uncle is one of the guide of the museum. You
will meet him at the museum. Introduce your uncle to your friend before starting
the tour.
Make a group of three. Trough group video call on Skype, do a role play based on
one of dialogue submitted on Edmodo UNIT 1 – TASK 12. Find your group mate on
UNIT 1 – TASK 10 or you can invite your classmate.
Evaluate your team’s speaking skill including yourself by giving each person score
