Personal Philosophy of Special Education

Being a teacher means educating the future. I like to think of it as one of these kids could

become the present of the United States one day. I want to care for the students, and educate

them with passion, so that hopefully one day I can make a difference in a child’s life. As the

students grow with knowledge I hope to grow as a person with them. I will carry myself as

professional as I can and set the example for adult. I will communicate with the parent as much

as I can to let them know the progress of their child. Goals get us through life with meaning, and

I will set goals for the children and goals for myself.

Every child has the ability to learn. They have the ability to grow and advance. I want

every child in my class room to lean, if it’s learning by reading off a textbook, or by saying

things over and over. Everyone learns in different ways, and we have to observe the things that

work best for the children. As a teacher we have to learn different ways of teaching one subject

in order to teach the children in different ways. When it comes to teaching we have to pay

attention the children that are fast learner and the ones that are slow. You can’t leave a child

behind from the lesson because he is slow. That’s why we have to pay attention to different

learning disabilities in order to teach the children with them.

The way you come off to people and the way you give instructions is almost the same

thing. You have to have a system of the way you want to teach. Not everyone can get the

instructions by you saying it one time. Some children need visuals or written directions on how

to do things. Knowing the children with learning disabilities you have to teach then and show

them how to do things when you are giving instructions.

The future is bright and we have to educate the children of the future with the best of our

abilities. We can’t give up on the children or leave them behind. Especially if they have a

learning disability. We just have to know how to teach children and that’s the way we can change

a child’s life.
