This booklet is meant for installers who have prior knowledge experience and relevant
training in proper installation and maintenance of heating systems and hot water storage
tanks
ROTEX tank, unlike most of the conventional stainless steel tanks, the storage water and the
main domestic supply water are separate in the tank, they do not mix at all. The main water
supply passes through the in-tank stainless steel corrugated tube heat exchanger system,
heated through the storage hot water in the tank. Therefore ROTEX tank acts like a
preheated and instantaneous hot water tank.
Figure 2 shows the exploded view of a ROTEX storage tank. It shows all the main
components in the tank.

Figure 3 shows how the main supply of water does not mix with the storage water in the
tank.
The main supply water pipe is connected on the top of the tank, which is also connected to
the corrugated heat exchanger coil. The cold water from the main supply flows in the heat
exchanger to the bottom of the tank then coiling up to the top of the tank. While the cold
main supply water flow coiling up the tank, it absorb heat from the surrounding storage
water. When the main supply water reaches the top of the tank, it should reach the same
temperature as the surrounding storage water, which is 65 degree Celsius.
The domestic water supply is entirely contained in a piping system and heat
exchanger so that the deposits such as sediment, rust or other deposits which can
arise in large volume tanks are not produced.
Water that is charged first is also the first to be removed (first-in first-out principle).
If the tank has not been used for a while, users do not need to worry about bacteria
building up in the tank and any legionnaire issues.
Low Maintenance
The tank is designed around self maintenance; users can install and forget about the tank.
ROTEX tank is a non pressurised tank. Therefore, the plumbers do not need to worry
about fitting extra valves and safety devices to regulate the in tank pressure.
Pressure and temperature relief (PTR) valve does not need to be fitted in it, and
users do not need to worry about PTR valve maintenance.
ROTEX tank is made up of plastic and composite material and it does not rust.
Therefore users do not need to worry about fitting and replacing anode.
The corrugated heat exchanger coil is made up of marine grade stainless steel.
Therefore it is highly resistance to corrosion.
The make up tank fitted at the side of the ROTEX storage tank always make sure the
storage water is always topped up due to evaporation. So the water level does not
need to be checked.
ROTEX designed the corrugated coil to self clean when the main supply of water
flows in the heat exchanger. Thus the sediment cannot build in the heat exchanger
coil.
ROTEX tanks can be manifolded and interconnect several storage tanks to store and
produce required hot water to specified projects.
Tichelmann principle is used to automatically balance the water level for each
manifolded tank. Thus fewer valves are needed to be fitted on the tanks.
Empty weight of ROTEX is relatively light compared to most of the stainless steel
tanks in current market.
ROTEX is designed to fit through any doors that are built according to Australian
Standard.
ROTEX uses common parts. Most plumbers in Australia are familiar with the pump,
valves, controllers and piping connection used by ROTEX.
A cubic shaped ROTEX tank utilises the space around more efficiently compares to a
cylindrical shaped tank.
