Classroom Management Policy

Expectations:

 Students will participate every rehearsal, and contribute in a beneficial

manner to make the ensemble better as a whole.
 Students will come prepared with pencil, scores, and any other necessary
materials as mentioned in class.
 No food or candies (including gum, and soft drinks) in the classroom.
 Bottled water is encouraged to have in the classroom.
 While in the music classroom, the music teacher is in charge, and the only
topic being focused on is the music at hand.
 Sick students are expected to follow along in the rehearsal process and fill
out a “sick form”.

Sequence of Consequences:

1. A “teacher stare” will be given in the student’s direction.

2. A verbal notice will be given to the student.
3. The student will be asked to stay 30 seconds after class to have a
quick conversation.
4. A call to the student’s parent(s)/guardian(s) will be issued.
5. A detention will be issued to the student.
6. A referral to the office will be issued as a last resort.

Note: Steps 1, and 2 may be skipped as necessary at any time.

In extreme cases that violate school policy, local laws, or state laws,
appropriate action must be taken, even against the above list of consequences.
