Fazaia Day’2k18

Air University Islamabad held the annual Fazaia Day on 18th September, 2018 to commemorate
the valor of the brave martyrs of Air force and their service. The event was organized by Air
University under specific security and protocol in order to accommodate the former Air Cheif
Marshall Muhammad Sbbas Khattak NI (M), S. BT who graced the occasion with his presence.

The ceremony proceeded with the National Anthem and recitation of the Holy Quran, along with
a brief tribute in the form of a song sung by Jaleel who is recently graduated. The welcome
address was given by Air Commodore Retd. Tariq Qureshi who gave a brief introduction of the
Chief Guest and the highlights of the 1965-72 war against India and the role that Airforce played
for Pakistan’s defense. The prestigious Chief Guest was an active warrior in the 1965 and 1972
wars where he fought the IAF fighter jets with clever skills and bravery. The 1965 war was
Pakistan’s moment of glory due to its victory after just 18 years of gaining independence.

Air Chief Marshall Muhammad Abbas Khattak put forth the very initiative of the idea of female
individuals in Pakistan Airforce. He opened all branches of air force to girls and set a new culture
of female competitors in the force. This impressive step of his encouraged the army and navy of
Pakistan to adopt the female candidates and due to his efforts, today almost 5% of the Pakistan
Defense Forces comprises of women. He emphasized the essence of Pakistan Air Force within a
simple phrase 'Service before self' that summarized all the valor and mindset of martyrs and
current officers which train for defense everyday such that the western countries request PAF to
train their forces which results in equal benefits.

The ceremony concluded beautifully with another tribute song by AU students 'Ay Rah-e-Haq
ke Shaheedon' followed by a brief question and answer session which bridged gaps between the
distinguished Cheif Guest and the respective students, along with a token of remembrance
handed over by the Vice Chancellor Air Vice Marshall Faiz Amir himself.
